If enough people don't leave then yes they'll layoff people. They've done it before but usually enough people take the VSP so they don't need to do that.
They would love that. Job abandonment so you are let go with no severance, no medical, no hit on unemployment, and sc--w your future job prospects being fired. Gets the company to their goal of fewer people.

Do most want to go back to the office more days? No. But this is such a first world problem. People need jobs. If this makes you so unhappy, take the VSP and stop being a Debby Downer for everyone else who is just trying to provide for their families.
I do not mind going to office. It’s good for my physical and mental health. I am more productive at home. I get chitchat and lunch break in office.. win win
Everyone should show up on the same day for RTO and cause chaose because there isn’t the room.
Many people try to take VSP in 2018 but denied. So no guarantee. Many of unhappy people are high performing doing job that critical and Verizon not let go. I know of one who denied and then got RIF two year later. Sad. Not the best. Not tremendous. Sad. Very not yuge.

Most of us don’t mind showing up because we understand it’s part of the job. Please take the package that’s offered today. Your attitude and want to get your way has done enough damage to our great company.
