IBM exit: "IBM has gone from occupying 12 floors to two"

"Companies such as Citigroup, JP Morgan, and IBM have office spaces at Changi Business Park. However, IBM has gone from occupying 12 floors to two, and Bloomberg cited a property listing that says Standard Chartered Plc is looking to lease out two floors of at least 58,000 square feet of office space." https://theindependent.sg/bloomberg-dubs-changi-business-parks-low-occupancy-a-blow-to-sgs-regional-hub-ambitions/

This is totally off-topic, but what the he-l...as previously mentioned, my time at Changi was spent with staff from IBM Singapore. Also represented was IBM India and IBM Australia, along with others (including me) from IBM US.

The target of disparagement during my stay there was IBM Japan. The others (IBM Singapore, India and Australia) had no love for their fellow project members in IBM Japan. I can only speculate as to why, but it was a sensitive enough topic that I kept quiet during the chatter that you would see in any office.

Those people had no problem with the Chinese.

Disparaging the Chinese people as a whole is incorrect, as the vast majority are victims of the ~90M that are part of the CCP. They are the target that should be disparaged.

You are showing your true color, an ignorant and racist white boy, I am guessing.
Labeling one group of people ethical and another non ethical shows what kind of low life you are.

heads of AMD and Nvidia are Chinese ... also TSMC

All of them got their good education in the USA.

Taiwan is not China - ethnically yes, but ethically no.

@p1n:
Ignorance is a bliss,
Are you aware that the heads of AMD and Nvidia are Chinese, also, the most advanced chipmaker is TSMC in Taiwan (Chinese).
You little narrow minded brain cannot handle the truth.

Once the four floors at Orchard Towers closed, it took less than a year for IBM executives to lose interest in Singapore.

I did a project back in the day with IBM Singapore, and spent a couple weeks in that place. It was a nice office, but I wouldn't mourn its loss.

Eventually IBM will not be able to afford the two floors and will vacate the current space to take up occupancy in a discarded, run down shack and outhouse near the Pan Island Expressway ; maybe that will be Granger's next Global assignment after retirement.

A useful analogy. IBM used to occupy 12 floors of overall customer IT spending. Now it is down to two floors!

"One 2017 estimate put the cost to the US of stolen trade secrets, pirated software and counterfeiting by China at between $225bn and $600bn a year."

In the US, Miz Wright (or Miz Wrong) IBM has been closing sites all over in anticipation of the coming Apocalypse. There used to be snacks offered at many bigger sites, but those are now part of history! Anything to make those mouthwatering IBM executive bonuses bigger and juicier in 2025.

Most graduate programs in top universities around the world have many Chinese students and professors

... who are regularly prosecuted for sending proprietary information back to the mothership.

Hopefully IBM will pull out of China. All the Chinese are good for is stealing your IP.

It is all about cutting costs to make the 12B of FCF because revenues are not going up... so, what do you expect?

I don't understand why people still don't get what the IBM business model is these days!
The Execs are taking the path of least resistance to make their bonuses, and in the process they are destroying the company.
