VSP advice for us

For those who took the VSP last time what were the last days like?? How did you feel when you turned off your laptop for the last time. Any advice for us leaving after 20+ years. Good luck Aug 14, I hope we get what we worked for.

Stock market in a rut? What country are you from. My 401k is the highest it’s ever been. The Dow is near 40000.

From our team members were told to just stay home the last week and “work” from home by staying by your personal phone should the company need you for something. Good luck!

Inflation, a soft job market, rising food prices, a stock market stuck in a rut, political uncertainty,
what could go wrong?

I’m sure for a brief second your manager and director, who don’t have a clue what you do or the procedures needed to get the work done, will be very interested in you for once, they may even remember your name, then the leftover Nepo who has to do your job, a job, will wail and gnash their teeth, it’s wonderful, two weeks later you won’t even remember the director’s name

OP, ge-z, still looking to others for direction and answers? You're doomed.

  • You will be expected to transition your work to someone, so document it now. It's part of getting the severance.
  • Make sure you have important phone numbers (like the benefits office) and the personal email addresses of anyone you want to stay in touch with.
  • Make sure your address and phone number are up to date with benefits.

If you have a pension, make sure you do a pension calc to see what kind of lump sum you might get (interest rates are high right now, so defer if you can).

  • Make sure you can log into the work history site. You will need it to get your last paystubs and W2.
  • If you will be seeking employment (vs retiring), get your resume up to date and start looking to see what's out there. If you are going to retire and you aren't medicare age, figure out what you are going to do for healthcare when your cobra coverage runs out. It's EXPENSIVE.

Finally, I don't care how badly someone wants to go, there is ALWAYS ambivalence about leaving a well paying job. Good luck.

  • Meet with your financial planner.

I was a remote worker working on a well dispersed team. I packaged everything up and fedexed the boxes to where they told me. Final calls to team members to say go by and then walked away. It takes about a month to receive the final check so there will be 2 or 3 weeks without a paycheck.
