I'm so sick of you work from home lazy people. I'm a troll and saw this. I'm not buying one of your low quality products again. And I drive a Ford Explorer ST... I have to work a real job 5 days a week... Making a difference. You are fu--ing laptop clickers who don't do any real work. Zoom meetings discussing pointless metrics... You people are so easy to hate!

It’s a way to reduce headcount without the headache cost and disruption of a layoff. Tactic two of the quiet firing is to issue a certain percentage of bad performance review to get folks to quit or find other jobs

most Ford employees are not new to having to be in a cubicle all day...

Too bad they got rid of most of those for open floor plan.

Hopefully Google or Yahoo go back to tall walls sooner than later

The Ugly truth behind RTO is that it came from senior management people who don't understand how the non-management tech people below them work (we do work, not attend meetings all day) and THEY feel more comfortable seeing people in the office. Never mind that people in the office can be on social media, ebay, etc. But if the CEO sees a parking lot full of cars and people buzzing around, then the CEO feels "energized" and excited. I've read studies about this. Senior Management being out of touch with the work force is nothing new really.

This is probably a driving force.

But there has been a lot of pressure on big connected corporations to demonstrate to the business world that they need to lease out huge commercial real estate facilities.

As for Ford, most Ford employees are not new to having to be in a cubicle all day and aren't about to give up that paycheck just because of that.
