Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Stankey in NJ this week

First half of the week in Middletown, second half of the week in Bedminster. Surely this is bad news.

It’s been said several times now. Middletown is a hub and there are no plans to close.

All you propeller Heads listenup, you have at best two years in Middletown. Get your life in order, your future is in Dallas. Buy a cowboy hat, oval belt buckle, and boots now so they are broken in when you move.

Great collaboration for execs only, terrible for everyone else in the company.

Pajama party!

Actually it's a beach party for the exec's.

Whereas there's an approved hotel list for those who even can travel, they are staying at an ocean front spa hotel. Lunch with 3rd level "managers" on Monday then tiki bar ocean dinner with those with even higher titles.
Q&A with "staff" on Tuesday afternoon. Then the stooges move to Bedminster on Wed. There's apparently more than just the Stink, Legg, and Fluffy on the trip because who can pass on a spa vacation when you aren't paying the bill? Am sure they won't give up their ocean hotel until needed as am sure they won't find the same near Bedminster. Am sure while they can give themselves trips like this, they'll keep Middletown open.

I heard that during the onsite building lunch, some of the execs even cut the buffet line they had because of their "self importance".

Strange that there was no video link to the Q&A session on Tues yet the invite email said that if you show up, be prepared to "smile" because you might be on camera. I guess they really want people to show up to actually see these losers in person. So not sure why the cameras even if they aren't showing it locally. Since the Stink told older workers to "get lost", they don't record anything people can save.

As for the mission, not totally clear other than a beach vacation for them. Hard to ever get morale up while they remain in charge. Perhaps they are trying to figure out how to cram even more people into building A or if they are going to offshore the domestic India workers back to the bulging new India locations. Am sure they've already planted people for the Q&A session.

I don't give a sh1t where that loser turns up. Worst ever. The sooner he leaves, the sooner we can start rebuilding.

It's as if...

He’s just trying to get a list of who the favorites with no paper trail are that will be spared the next layoff.

If you are in another state and have to go in person to see if the office should be kept open, you are a pi-s poor manager.

I’m in Bedminster- still haven’t heard anything about execs visiting this week. Where has that been announced?

Executives always come to visit sites before the layoffs to see if the site is worth saving. Most of the time it's not. When they had Nokia contract, it was good to keep AT&T in NJ since Nokia was also in NJ. But now they are going with Ericsson, no point having major locations in NJ. Wouldn't be surprised if they told people most jobs are moving to Texas. If you want your job then move to Texas. This is a way they get you to self-fire yourself and not have to pay severance or unemployment. Most companies are playing these games since they can't afford the high interest rates (higher for longer from the Fed). You are going to start seeing unemployment spike as many companies start to layoff and AI takes over the repetitive task type of jobs (software coding, marketing, pricing, project management, etc.). It's going to be tough finding another job (for most, I would assume, even if you are experienced since AI just through that experience out the door). Take a look at this webpage for all the layoffs for 2024 in USA, then you might agree with what I'm saying. https://data.tcpalm.com/see-which-companies-announced-mass-layoffs-closings/?page=1&query=2024
