Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Is the proverbial "other shoe" set to drop?

As I recall, when AT&T sold Connecticut to Frontier, they first gave an offer to their employees. Is this the same chain of events for Vz?

They’re expanding FiOS

They’re integrating FiOS and wireless

They’re offering great deals to sign up with the other’s service

Wireline isn’t going anywhere.

Wireless isn’t going anywhere.

VZB will be sold off along with all of the non-backbone wireline well before the CWA contract expires in '26. Apollo Mgt. Take a look at their current portfolio, take a look at past deals w/VZ, selloff to HCL so they can be the axeman, package to the rest that got left behind to try to keep certain functions past the HCL 1 yr, all makes a smaller package to be bought. Give some of Apollo's other holdings some installs for fiber/FiOS/etc in particular footprints, and Apollo Mgt adds the wireline to all the rest they've been scooping up for years(CenturyTel, GTEW, Frontier territories all over the US).

This is just a VSP to reduce headcount, payroll costs, etc

Don’t see the link. There have been RIFs, enhanced packages for union and another VSP in 2017 (?) after VZ sold some territory to Frontier also. This seems too broad and not impactful enough if the plan was to do this ahead of spinning off a specific wireline region. Plus you’d probably let a new owner decide who/how
