Heads up on WFH video background craziness

In some areas leaders are now asking employees to let them know when they're working from home IF they're using a background on video calls that day. Because the perception is a background means you're working from home. Not a rumor, happening in my lob.

ASSUMING when someone is using a background = they're working from home is bananas. Asking them to take time out of their day to tell you when they want to use a background when working from the office is even crazier. They moved everyone to space mod locations where the privacy of cubes is gone in a lot of places. Backgrounds can be necessary.

The intense focus on whack things like this that waste time is beyond ludicrous.

Start using backgrounds on every. single. one. of your video calls. Confuse them forever. Make the wonder. Waste their time like they're wasting yours.

As if reporting and badge swipes aren't enough, now this.

We got that message on our team as well .. anytime I’m in office i need to show my actual office in the back vs a background

As a manager, I'm going to give all my directs a very rude awakening if they exploit the lax RTO tracking as I know they are doing. Come next February, you will see. People think they are so clever.

Meh. Let them catch the majority of people who are doing that. Who cares?

When they want to clean out the office they will start disciplining that stuff. For now they need us more than that.

It's because associates are getting caught badging in then turning around to go home.

We are all required to use an approved background at home or in the office so that is strange. We are never allowed to not look professional or not have the background on even in team only meetings.

Let me know if you need someone to come up behind you and dance or do something stupid. That’ll show em.

@dqq+1sZcDE2F - "manage them out"...? at BofA///?? You gotta be kidding. The doofuses never get "managed out" around here. They get PROMOTED!

Because the Management Team are the Ring Leaders of Doofusses. (or Doofi, if you want to be technical)

They love this kinda cr*p.

If it’s true it’s one manager flexing.

At some point BoA employees will wake up and realize they are far from the best and brightest in the industry and that's why they are being managed like kids. As if the low pay didn't clue you in, if you want respect, go work somewhere else.

To the poster who said “we would look to manage them out.” That’s funny. So many managers are horrible and continue to get away with shiz. No managing out!

Yeah that is pretty weird. For managing WFH the report managers receive should be enough. If you are within the rules what does it matter if you are working from home that day or in the office and decide to use a virtual background to edit out the people walking behind your desk? Just silly.

If a leader seriously stated such a thing, we would look to manage them out.
