Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

What's going on with layoffs?

Was anybody laid off yesterday or not? What about today? Will there or won't there be cuts?

It continues to be stress free in the post layoff years, with unprecedented Job security and incredibly low levels of layoffs. That’s why people bi--h about RTO not layoffs.

@cbmy - Why do you say "We've had..." you've admitted in several other posts that you are no longer employed at BNY Mellon and that you get your jollies hanging out on the Green in Pittsburgh to gawp at people who might be having the worst experience of their lives. So stop with the "we" stuff.

Pretty much nothing has been going on with layoffs for two decades and counting.

Relax and enjoy the good times. Boomers took the axe for you so you need not worry.

Enjoy the low layoff era.

@2hmr

Not true…. People look at the history of layoffs and take great comfort in todays ultra rare and super small layoffs.

@4uwa

Apparently this go getter manager from University of Phoenix somehow managed to force a “B.L.” rating into a “B.E.” field. Definitely an out of the box thinker…

Doubt you will hear much of layoffs because it’s mostly people who are PIP and BL on reviews. If you think you were let go because of position being eliminated it’s not. They still put you BL on reviews to justify it. We had a few staff members who we were told to put BL because every mid year and year end we have to put 10% BL even if we don’t have anyone to rank this low. If you don’t work in the 2 main offices Pitts and Florida you will lose your job. It’s all a favoritism game at this point for other offices. You are all put against each other ranked and whoever is at the bottom will be let go. Why people need start asking your managers about the ranking system. Call them out them on it. If it’s not a favoritism game everyone should see the list of who is ranked against each other and their score. Bet the buddy buddies with the managers are ranked higher. I challenge you all ask your manager of the ranking system. Ask them what is it based on. Ask them why everyone mid and year end there is a mandatory 10% HAVE to be put BL or off track. The managers will only save the individuals they truly care about by either ranking them high or moving them to a different department. CHALLENGE THEM, ask them in a huddle or townhall.

@2rrd

No, June was much like February. A one half of one percent layoff. It’s been at least 25 years and counting since there has been a significant layoff.

Did we break 1% or is it yet another 0.5% layoff?

By any historical standard we are enjoying job security. Better yet the job market is hot.

42- nobody cares about what happened in 2000. It’s irrelevant to the people losing their jobs now. Don’t understand why you insist on posting the same irrelevant thing on every thread every day

It’s on but it’s another 1% max exercise.

Nothing like the massive days of herding out employees like cattle in the 10% per year, every year from 2000 to 2008.

Count your lucky stars that you will never be scarred by this.

I was told a bunch of people that I knew were laid off today from Pershing. I worked for Pershing for 25 years and retired recently. I surmise if I had stayed instead of retiring, I might have been on the list, as I requested that months ago. I couldn't wait, I needed to go and I am much happier for it.
