Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Big Retail Cuts

Hearing big retail cuts coming, store closures and sell offs, directors/AVPs cut, ADs cut - I've heard calls will be happening with those impacted in the retail org on this Friday 4/26 and 5/15. I've also heard 4/26 is notice date with 5/15 being the off payroll date.

Anyone else hearing anything? Haven't seen a calendar invite myself yet. Don't know if that's good or bad. TBD... Here we go again.

AR the nightmares of a self checkout at a Walmart! COR, most def will stay to what extent will be determined! As long as you have outsourcing of cust care over seas, AR, and National Retail, SAmS, Walmart etc, someone has to be around to fixed that spider web for sure! Every hour of the day we do and call the complaints into HR of Fraud and more of the non AT&T wanna be”s”
100% incorrect. All stores will be AR at some point similar to what the prepaid space had done. Much more cost effective for any business to get out of brick and mortar and let AR handle that. Additionally the CWA has been digging ATTr stores to a slow death. Lastly, HR is not your friend, if your calling to tattle on behaviors of a competing store, your 100% putting a target on your back.

I am going to go sit in the sales area tomorrow 4/26 and listen to the gossip. That will clear out some more space in the building so it will be quieter.

Smart move. Send Management packing before impacting CWA Reps.

“ Sounds like the girls at the beauty shop! All gossip and no paperwork to back it up! Produce or Hursh!” Well these retail layoffs hit today, one director and 4 ARSMs cut in our market. There’s your paperwork. I’m sure stores are next.

You can't close down stores all together. If everyone bought online there would be no add-ons of Next UP, HTP, protection, secondary lines and so on. No one slams themselves. These features are the only ways of showing growth. Growth increases stock prices. Increased stock price makes executives more money. Retail is going no where except to AR.

“Close them down, no one shops there anymore.”
Literally the only people I know who have been to a physical store recently are a couple of senior employees.

Have you walked by an ATT store lately? No customers and few employees. Close them down, no one shops there anymore

Just look at the online MVNO growth. Physical stores are not needed. Even Older customers are shopping online.

The footprint of physical stores should be significantly cut. Even a major metro like Atlanta or Dallas should only have 2-3 stores with most transactions handled online.

Yep. Numbers have been crunched. AR , National Retail and Online can deliver needed results.

Gatekeeper, grossly overpaid AVPs need to be out on their ear(s). They do next to nothing besides lord over their little fiefdoms.

We still have COR stores? Not surprised there's downsizing with all the ARs out there.
