Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

No honest feedback

AT&T is filled with simpletons whose only skills are butt-kissing and yes-mening. That's it. That's why we've made so many bad moves over the last ten years. When the only feedback Stankey and those around him receive is an echo of their own words, they have no reason to doubt what they're doing.

Waste of time voting any shares, Wall Street funds control it.

“Annual shareholder meeting is coming up May 16th. If you have AT&T stock in your 401k you should have an email or letter with AT&T Vote in the header and a control number and instructions on how to vote. Vote for each board member yay or nay, executive compensation l, keeping EY as auditor, and several other measures. You can read the proposals, some submitted by other shareholders, read board recommendations and vote your shares.”

People still hold this stock?
Y tho?

AT&T is filled with lazy whiners that fight every change to move the company forward because they are used to doing so little work and getting paid.

“ Maybe at T, but as an SDE who went to university very poor and now have a NW approaching $1M due to hard work I hate to believe that’s true…”
Have you been promoted up the chain? I know plenty of highly educated people with advanced degrees from prestigious universities that are sitting stagnant as you mentioned. Office worker L2s. When I recognized that it didn’t matter what degree I got, I was at the whim of those lorded above me, I decided to make my own path outside of here. I also have a very high NW (I could retire today and I’m in my mid 40s), but it’s not because of my job here. It’s because I do things outside the company and invest in other things outside my job. However, none of that translates to being tapped to climb the ladder (which yes made me a bit bitter and cynical). Once you figure it out, you’ll invest in yourself and do other things. Build your own business, side hustle or empire. Use the W2 and the benefits from here to enable you to take risks in other areas. I really don’t like others deciding whether or not I succeed in life, I want to build my own path.

“The more you know, the harder you work and the more you produce, the less chance you’ll advance. You are too valuable to production.”

Maybe at T, but as an SDE who went to university very poor and now have a NW approaching $1M due to hard work I hate to believe that’s true…maybe you’re right though, it does feel like T struggles to support and promote high performers and people tend to ‘plateau’ a lot sooner than they should and just get stuck and stagnate.

I really hope this won’t be my experience once I leave T.

You want to be at the top or advance in corp America, it’s who you know, how well they like you and do you fit in their click or come from their background. Ever notice all the execs/VPs all look/act like they were born with silver spoons in their mouths, because they probably were and have the pedigree. Thats it.

The more you know, the harder you work and the more you produce, the less chance you’ll advance. You are too valuable to production.

Took me a long time to learn that. I always thought hard work and performance were rewarded, they are not. You’ll just get more work.

The Stank should have been fired several times over his failed decisions , execution. One can argue about his arrogance, lack of self awareness, hubris , stupidity , incompetence , unlikable nature , etc.

Absolutely. The DNA of the organization is total conformity. It’s said to watch.
