Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Good news everyone : More VPs!!

Sweet news for us all. Our executive is back in business promoting their own and fattening CVE up with more top heavy salaries via even more VPs and directors. I mean that’s exactly what I thought we needed to really improve morale. More upper mgmt!! Thank god. I mean they’re all so useful. But don’t worry, if you’re in the technical stream there’s no future for you here. Hahaha development? You su-kers bought that!!

@bjgd+1segPTrd The majority of them will not be able to get a similar job in another company

13 executives, 308 Directors, VPs and SVPs, does not leave a lot of room for doers or their salaries and bonuses.

Agree with the chain completely! And most getting promoted have no idea what they are the VP or Senior Manager of, no do they care! There are a few good people at those levels but they are few and far between.

As for the comment "I hope LP will fix IT" - one can hope, but that whole IT LT NEEDS TO GO!

The one truism at Cenovus is that mgmt looks after mgmt. no matter what the surveys say. They promote VPs but do you think they look at the surveys and the results under a given VP? Not a chance. They get promoted based on how well they manage up. Not how they look after the employees. Do as we say not as we do is the new Cenovus motto.

An executive VP reporting to another one? Is it a message asking somebody politely to leave?

Yes, more VP’s promoted to Sr VP’s with even more inflated salaries! I’m starting to think CVE isn’t in the oil & gas business, we are in the career management business. How do we possibly get our G & A down with all of this ridiculous and unnecessary multi-layered middle management? No wonder our stock plummets every time we have an earnings call!!!!!

I agree with the chain here but stop using the language "white males" ....its simply racist (and s-xist). Replace "white" with "black" in that same sentence and you will see how rotten it sounds. And no, just because folks are white, doesn't make it ok to say that....it doesn't help with inter-race relationships, it sews more division. We can all critique the organizational moves CVE does without having to resort to racist/s-xist language.

I would love to see our VPs and executive focus on the development of others as they focus on development for themselves. If they can solve that riddle, they naught actually solve some of the employee frustration.

What are you talking about? Clearly more SVPs are needed to make us more efficient. I mean they’re integral to our operations. How else would I be motivate me to work hard if my VP doesn’t get promoted?

I don’t know if I could get anymore sickened by our executive. More VPs promoted to senior VPs this morning. Because as the original poster said that’s for sure what we need more white males getting promotions. Meanwhile we are told it’s not a business need for us to get a promotion. But for sure how would we operate if these people don’t just get massive raises. This place just makes me sick. Alex is a joke. The scorecard looks like we are being set up to fail again with a less than 100 score.

Agreed! It’s gotten out of control and is starting to border on the comical! We all know what happens to a ship that is top heavy and has overloaded upper decks…
