Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

In sales ? - you’re next

If you are in mobility / fiber - your position will be switching to contractor very soon. Stanley idolizes the Google/amazon infrastructure- they hardly pay benefits and most people are contractors - software engineer? India is the answer. God bless everyone and keep those resumes up to date

"Why do you think they are bolstering up the Alliance team right now. They want Solution Providers selling not employees."

Bingo! That is exactly what they are doing. I have a friend who owns an SP and the payouts they are getting on that side are triple what they pay internal sales people. Granted, they are only paying out a commission and not a salary or benefits, but that is the most efficient model from a business perspective.

When is the shareholders and the BOD going to get smart, offshore the CEO and execs, much cheaper overseas, pennies on the millions?

Much better ROI and they couldn’t do any worse, they have been playing with pennies when along, the play was to move the boardroom overseas. Should be a question for the next Stankey meeting, of course will never be answered like any of the other real questions or suggestions.

What about all the top performers in the Sales department?

They are totally fu---d. Cost to much to maintain. They will be shitcanned like a pair of sh-t stained underpants. First to go for sure.

The amount of unethical behavior goin on in sales has forced the company to outsource just to divest the liability from litigation and regulatory bodies for all the fake line add shenanigans. Better to have a contractor to blame.

I don't disagree with your assumption of sales lay offs. I only wonder when. Maybe not this year but next for sure. Almost 5 months in to this year. Lots of framework yet to be built for a full solution provider takeover. I do continue to see salesforce changes in segment/account channel, weird title changes on teams, merging of markets/territories. Lots of pieces of the puzzle.

NOPE. It's coming now. AT&T hemorrhaging Quarter after Quarter and when top line revenue falls you cut to profitability. That's why in Mid Market for example Channel was put under JVB. It's coming and it's coming now and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Literally nothing. Your end is now. Goodbye.

Not India- Service Providers.
They still want people who can speak fluent English in National Business and above. I agree a shift will occur to SPs though.

"India can't climb a telephone pole."

Well, since this post is talking about sales people and IT jobs, not sure what your point was supposed to be.

Trying to imagine being so simple-minded that I would think a union contract at a failing company was somehow going to save my job.

If you are in corporate sales, your account module will eventually belong to a solution provider. If you are in a corporate retail store, you will soon be laid off as that store will soon be an authorized retailer. If you are in IT, expect to be laid off this year as your job is going to be outsourced to India. I spent 20 plus years working for T, but it was a great company back then. Stankey has completely destroyed a once great company.
