Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Enough is enough.

I joined the organization in 2016 as a bargaining unit employee in Clifton. After getting my degree, I took a position as a supervisor. What happened this past April 11 was a travesty. I was totally blind-sided as representatives from HR along with a union rep and security guards walked into my lab and walked people out. I had no idea I would lose so many of my best people. People I had personally trained. I complained that I had no one left to work on certain vital programs and was told to "train someone else". As if it was that easy. Some of the work is so complex it takes literally months to learn. The company, with no knowledge of the product, disagreed. While the union layoffs were largely done by seniority, the members of our leadership were targeted because they exposed flaws in the L3Harris methodology. In other words, they were fired for pointing out the elephant in the room. It had nothing to do with business. It was personal. It was a vicious action intended to punish anyone who disagreed with them and to scare anyone else into blind obedience. I was not laid off. I was told i was a vital part of the organization and should consider myself fortunate to have been retained. But, I've had enough. On Monday, April 29, I resigned. L3Harris can go straight to he-l.

Harris acquired L3 for the name.
I was laid off a 1 after the waiting period for a total close of the merger.
Harris does not value people. They benefits offered are truly horrible. Everything has been outsourced.
I knew I would be laid off. They offered me a retention bonus so I stayed.
But.. I have no good words for Harris.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It is really hard to go through a layoff - especially the way that this was handled. I have been blessed to have found a new job that I start next week but many people are still struggling to find work. I applaud your courageousness in walking away from this situation. That took a lot of guts! I am looking forward to the next chapter in my career and I’m glad that I am away from this dysfunctional company.

Hopefully the severance payments won’t be used to keep the lights on another day. HR and security will be walking themselves out soon. Poorly ran company with uneducated lazy leadership. Have a good day.

I think current and prospective investors should give L3 Harris the Bud light treatment.

Selling off assets and laying people off is the only way the L3Harris leadership can generate the returns that will keep the board members satisfied. Imagine hiring an outside consultant to tell you who to fire. Ridiculous. As we long suspected, Hourglass and ZEUS were just time studies intended to target employees that didn't work fast enough. As if the company wasn't already hemorrhaging talent. Depending on such a dysfunctional organization to protect our warfighters is disturbing. I'm fortunate to have been able to leave the company at a time of my choosing. My heart goes out to my former colleagues who stayed with the company, only to be laid off. It can be a liberating experience however. You will be able to take the knowledge and expertise you acquired while working there, and use it to benefit a more deserving employer. I know the poster at the head of this thread. I worked in Clifton too. I remember when you started. You will be just fine my friend.

I just came across this story today "Whistleblower Josh Dean of Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems has died". Looks like companies don't want to hold onto those who complain since they can also end up being in a similar situation that Boeing is currently. Remember, this a public company that is traded on the stock markets.
