Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Sat next to a guy who watched youtube all day.

After a few hours of this, I asked him whats up, and he said, he works in a group that reviews NDA and confidentail documents, so he cant have anyone walking around him seeing what he is doing. He also cant reserve an office as at our office location there are very few and reserved for higher ups, so he goes to the office near the first of the month, watches youtube and responds to emails. He's a TW, never worked in an office his whole career at AT&T, and is just checking the box that says he has to be at an office once per month.

Another great example of RTO.

I have one of those in my office. They are union protected so it’s all good he can just show up and collect his check. Easy money

I use the privacy screens so I can play Minecraft with my WFH friends. I leave my work laptop in open view. I told my boss that the second laptop is my HVD. Old dude doesn’t even know what a virtual desktop is.

“There are privacy screens and can easily set up areas for privacy. Employees clearly abusing office time need to be terminated. T should implement an anonymous reporting process.”

Maybe T shouldn’t be making all these stupid unnecessary changes to company structure that obviously don’t take into account a lot of the skilled knowledge workers needs and job requirements?

This is nonsense, look him up in Webphone. I would have thought we got to all of these types by now. He is a part of some bloated organization with no oversight. Criminal how many good hard workers have been shown the door over the last decade and yet still there are clowns like this at the te-t.

I also know someone who was told to sit in open space on a headset with a job that often discussed NDA contracts.

We all have to take the corporate security and spi courses.

I don't think you understand what NDA and Confidential documents means. Just because you have taken security and SPI training doesn't mean you can access any and all documents. Certain teams have higher level of access and have signed NDAs to work on certain projects. In this case, if the the company cant provide a secure area for this guy to do his job, then by all means, watch youtube, until it gets banned.

There are privacy screens and can easily set up areas for privacy.

Who provides those screens? it's not the employee's job to provide a secure area while at the office so they can do their jobs... My office doesn't have any privacy screens available, and people walking all around me all day long.

I sit next to a supervisor who spends the day watching Youtube, doing crossword puzzles, making personal calls. Associate 'director'. Must be nice

We all have to take the corporate security and spi courses. So… how is it safer to do it from home where someone in your home can sit beside you and take recordings or screen shots and sell the data as opposed to doing it in a secure AT&T location?

I bet that guy works next to a person who never works because they’re too busy gossiping and worrying about others.

Yep, it’s all a meme now, to be honest.

I also work for a team that can potentially review sensitive documents (compliance), and on my office days, my manager knows that I can't effectively do my job, so I just do other things to stay busy.
