Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

If a manager is in the forest crying about RTO....

And there is nobody there to hear them. Do they still make a noise?

No, you didn't hear it because you were sleeping in your work truck.

Ok so I guess a union employees boss makes 3 times what a union worker makes. Wow we need more raises than we thought.

“No, I was smart enough to cash my T stocks in when they were worth more than double what they are now and reinvest most of it into the S&P 500. Over 13% the last ten years along with a couple of other funds. I didn’t trust the brain trust, if you’ve built and kept $1 million of T stock, you aren’t as bright as you think. It’s probably worth 300k now and Bidenomics will continue to eat into the rest of it.”

Of course it isn’t T stock…I sell that.
I just save > 50% of my income, live in a LCOL area with a $200k position, max out the 401k, have an IRA, and taxable brokerage.

T stock is sold immediately for something else.

Union slug ( union goof) definition for those that are wondering.

An under skilled over employed entitled group that are unemployable anywhere else in the world. This group complains about comfortable chairs while their union gives away all future job security, pay increase and the most important, benefits. They also say things they never mean or follow through with. Some have a propensity to sleep regularly during the work day. Finally the shocking lack of technical skills in this group is an indication of how valuable they actually are.

“The Union will get a contract, you will get your RTO assignment (may not be in the same city as you live in). It is a win-win. Now go get your shine box and live your destination.”

Yeah….and when I have to relocate I can just quit, do some interviewing, use my experience to get on in tech and they will just pay me to move as a part of my hiring package….

Do you have $1M+ in stocks before 30 with your Union job?

“A unionized employee with better pay, better healthcare and better job security than his boss.”

On-site physical labor supervisors?
Maybe.
More than technical tech oriented developers?
Unlikely - unless union employees are clearing $200k a year now (which is what I make as MTS)

"A unionized employee with better pay, better healthcare and better job security than his boss."

Better pay, that's a good one. I make 3 times what you do in base salary. Overtime you say? Any OT I do is home sitting on my couch. Sorry but you started this. You really ought to get in touch with reality before you start stuff.

And if need be I'll make that much doing your job. Doesn't matter if I do it as well as you do. I just have to show up.

Union slug definition for those that are wondering.

A unionized employee with better pay, better healthcare and better job security than his boss. These union employees can only be laid off in inverse seniority order. They can also get involuntary severance far exceeding their bosses benefit. That’s hat a union slug is.

Are the union slugs still working without a contract? You slugs said you’d walk off the job. Ah , another gutless move . Can’t wait to see all the jobs that get moved to contractors and all the benefits you give up once you’re forced to accept the company offer.

If a union member wonders why they pay dues when they still can't get a contract they like, does anybody care?
