Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Pioneer Deal Complete and What’s Next

One constant truth in business following a buyout is that for the combined work force it’s always better to be on the buyer side than then the seller side.

Just ask the heritage Mobil and XTO people if you can find any.

  1. Layoff as many people over 50 as possible without having to declare an official layoff.
  1. Move as much work as possible to India.
  1. Import low cost people from India to replace Americans under the guise of “ Career Development” for the Indians.
  1. Repeat steps 1 thru 3 annually.

OP,
You have no idea how resilient we are at Pioneer. There is no deadline, production or task we don't meet & conquer.
We will accept, embrace & conquer with our brethren at XTO and Exxon.
We will merge Exxon, XTO & Pioneer together in the Permian basin and come out stronger than either one ever was. Book it!!

Pioneer people, the problem with coming over to exxon is that you have to deal with a--clowns like @1sar. That type of arrogance is not uncommon at exxon, including in leadership. He-l, it actually looks like my boss could've wrote it. Hey boss, fvck you!!

Was part of other buyouts and layoffs way before I joined XTO. The issue I have and had with Xom. My XTO LT and coworkers pretty much betrayed the rest of us. Gotta climb that ladder. Especially in IT. Integrity is hard to come by in this day and age.

At least when Exxon bought Mobil they offered Mobil Executives 3 year salary to leave and many other Mobil employees were offered 2 year salary to leave.

Exxon has now gotten down to 3 month salary to leave.

For the Pioneer employees, this is the best advice to give. If you haven't already, start looking for another job. If you are in the DFW area and your family is there, do not move them. Take the sacrifice and find another job locally.
The stress and frustration that awaits you is not worth the possibility of reward. Think of it this way, if you were to interview for a job today, would you have the skills to go into a company like XOM? Would you know the types of topics they speak about? If not, then you have your answer. Most of the lower level jobs have been sent offshore. Even the technical ones are leaving, so the opportunities are reducing every month.
If you think you can learn the higher level skills along the way, then you're mistaken. Such transformations are rare for people later in their career (rare exceptions of course).
Again, not here to scare anyone but in fairness, everyone should see these things with their own eyes.
Good luck and God bless!

Whats next?
Go to work, wait for the new job offers, accept it or don’t.
Theres only 2 things in this world that are certain. Death & Taxes!
