Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I lost my job today and I don't get paid back on my PTO.

PTO, you only get back PTO you bought, not the hours you accure, if you see the writing on the wall, go use it all, otherwise you will lose it. Doesn't matter how much you have, you only get the "flex vacation" you had the option to buy.

These last 2 cuts (401K delayed match and non payment of accrued PTO) show just what a sh-t company BK has become, and what a nasty S-B Robin Vince is.

I left last year, was wondering what. Did they give for the 401 match pct ?

But that can't be. In our earnings call Robin said we've increased employee benefits.

@OP if you read the updates they send each month you would’ve known this ahead of time. They told us at either the end of last year or beginning of this year that accrued vacation was no longer paid out.

Yes. Changed this year. Another reduction in benefits.
Keep in mind that they keep your unused earned vacation time & want paid back if you use vacation time that hasn’t been accrued yet. . Win win for Robin & the greedy execs

I knew you didn't get paid for floater/personal days but thought you would get unused earned vacation days.
Has that policy changed?

Those employees who were laid off last year in late September lost 9 months of 401k matching.

Get any money stored In Commuter benefit accounts onto your card as quickly as possible before BNYM sends your termination details to the vendor who will close your account. Any funds left in the account are lost.

Just be careful for those saying to use it all. If you use more than what you have accrued, they will take that money back

How does Mr 42, who no longer works her by his own admission, but who obviously has nothing better to do with his time - have any idea how many layoffs we’ve had? They are no longer DOING the mass layoffs. They’re ki-ling us off by a million tiny little cuts to not trigger WARN notices and so it’s not as noticeable to the markets or investors or for whatever reason. All of us know people laid off in the last year, perhaps even dozens or even hundreds. But the net headcount looks much the same thanks to rehiring in growth centers, like India. I am leaving but my position can ONLY be replaced in a growth center. I am not taking my own advice but I truly believe we need to all band together and ignore this Mr 42 id--t. It’s the only satisfaction he gets in his miserable trolling, living in his mama’s basement, never getting any action, life. Let’s band together and rob him of the satisfaction he gets from trying to get a rise out of us.

I don't know what part of the company your org is in, but I didn't get the benefit of this" simply show up, go to your cubicle and be a lump all day your job is safe." I was working 50-60 hours a week in a team where my manager used any excuse to insult my ability as an employee and I had no ability to speak back. So please take your toxic mindset, and shove it.

All these changes were rolled out during open enrollment. Why are you surprised as if hearing it for first time? Wait until next year and see what we get. Pink slipped

Dear Sir,

We regret to inform you that your job of being the most annoying and ridiculous poster on the BNYM layoff.com board is being eliminated. Instead the job of posting completely inaccurate posts with numerous spelling and factual errors is being relocated to Pune, India. Please enjoy your swift kick in the rear on your way out the door and we hope to never hear from you again!

@1lua
The only state that protects PTO balance (to be paid at the time of dismissal) is California.
Many other states have no provision for that.

They keep reducing our benefits (401k match, not paying for unused vacation, etc) but then Robin sings the praises of our enhanced mental health benefits. Mental health benefits we need because this place is driving us all nuts. The announcement they wouldn’t pay unused vacation came last year. Take your vacation, people, before you lose it die to unplanned RIF or firing.

401k change last year then the non payment for accrued vacation this year. Wonder what next year will bring to reduced benefits for employees.
