Thread regarding Ford layoffs

To quote Chicken Little "the sky is fallin".

Any (insert month here) layoffs reported as predicted?

You gotta admit though. When a company like Tesla reduces staff there is no fighting the urge to follow because they are typically 1. Waiting for someone to do it 1st to see what happens, or 2. Following a lead because they are outsourcing their jobs to their peers.

Cuts will come...but anyone claiming to know when is are trash.

  1. We know the #1 objective is "people", which is clearly stayed as building the right teams with the right people (I'm doomed), and that's supposed to be completed by June.
  2. We know there is increased talk of a recession amongst economists and investors. If it happens it ain't help the situation.
  3. In addition to losing money on every EV Ford sells, EV sales are slumping. This matters because government CAFE standards directly correlate ICE sales to EV sales. JF said it himself in not so many words during the last townhall.
  4. Ford lacks an affordable product line to offer when times are tough.
  5. Where are the new and exciting EV's that Ford needs to be offering? The Mach-E isn't cutting it, the Lightening isn't cutting it, amd the Explorer isn't gonna cut it either. So what do we have coming ... a Ford version of the Trax? Whoopee!

So yeah, something is certainly going to happen, and probably before July 4th is my guess.

You're right, it just that there will be no layoffs, just jobs being moved. Everyone better do some due diligence, even if your job gets moved out of the Dearborn area you can still adapt and find away to have a nice income. Pretending nothing is going to change is not the answer.

One industry that will need manufacturing engineers is the fast food industry, the kitchens will be redesigned so only 2 or 3 people will be needed to run a whole restaurant.

Ostriches with head in sand ignoring the signs. Someone posted here recently that they didn't believe it in 2022, until it happened.

Good luck to us all.

Agree all signs are pointing to end of May for big headcount cuts like Tesla just did. JF is a EM follower so he will whack 5,000 salary plus jobs here in NA. Guaranteed

So far, the prognosticators (trolls) on this website have predicted a layoff for almost every month this year and most of the months last year.

The chances are pretty good that over next several years there possible could be a layoff proving them right!

From my experience the at Ford, it is normally a topic dropped during the town halls.
