Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Tones of despair and sui-idal tendencies

Non hub location here. Overhearing conversations on my floor from some people with loved ones about obvious depression about impending layoffs. Some are very sui-idal sounding in tone. Overheard one very distraught person saying that EAP told someone that if he didn’t like the direction the company was going, they knew where the door was. EAP! I’m not comfortable naming where this is happening, but rumors of layoffs the next two months have people here in really bad mental states.

There have been people sousidal since the 80's, some successful. The worst will come when someone moves their family and then gets smoked 2 months later. This is just the beginning, trust and believe.

I'm on the surplus list. I'm no longer afraid. Just give me my severance so I can finally leave.

Made up. EAP isn’t saying “if you don’t like it, leave” . I’m not saying they’d be helpful, but they aren’t saying that. Fabrication.

I don’t work 2,080 hours a year, it’s more like 500 hours or ~10 hours a week, so my $120,000 salary (or $57/hr) is more like $240/hr. Just badge in in Dallas, be super positive on every call, make sure boss’s, boss’s boss knows I’m here, and then head home. So, don’t come to Dallas. You’ll cramp my style. Find a tu-d like AT&T in your hometown and slack there. The inn is full here. Dueces.

As Legg said many a time "nobody is forcing you to do anything"

It's only toxic T that is telling you what becomes of your job

In the words of Michael Ford, the new Sr VP of CRE, "We change people, or we change people".

There is life after T and happier life. I’m depressed because I can’t take it anymore. Constant threat of layoffs and constantly being moved to different groups. I have been treated like a piece of furniture for last 15 yrs. No opportunity of learning or training that can be used at work. Only thing that keeps me here is money. I have no job satisfaction. No motivation. I feel like I’m wasting my life here.

Where have these employees been? Every single employee at T should be prepared to receive a pink slip at any time with the way things have been going for so long. Managers have known about RTO for well over a year now.

EAP is probably now just a redirect to an HR rep whose job is to talk you into resigning.

Anyone that leaves should be over joyed to be rid of Toxic-T and the Stink!

Remember people, this is not who you are, your job does not define you! This is only a pay check, period! I go to work every day and have a check deposited into my checking account every two weeks, that's it! It's a trade-off, not your identity!

No one should let this company be their identity. It doesn’t care about you. You’re a number. More than likely you will be fine if you get laid off even in this awful job market.

Not worth offing yourself over this garbage company. Can’t let them win.

BS:
"EAP told someone that if he didn’t like the direction the company was going, they knew where the door was."

The company is heartless.
Sorry to hear this but not surprised sadly.
And inconsistency of who had to be in a hub in the same dept is grossly unjust.
Pi---s me off that my peers can go on WFH in non-hub locations like they are super special or something.
