Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Another LR?

How sad is it that with every upcoming earnings report there are rampant discussions and rumors of yet another LR? Really great for morale, isn't it?

There’s one thing consistent, and that’s the constant lies from the senior leadership.

You clearly haven't been paying attention. Lying, not only to people below, adjacent and above you, but to customers who are far more knowledgeable than the Cisco employees lying to them is a core Cisco value.

We are so dysfunctional. There’s one thing consistent, and that’s the constant lies from the senior leadership. Unfortunately, lying to employees is not illegal. The only good thing about Cisco is it is a great place to be woke.

Is it just me - but business seems to have come to a screeching halt.
There's no email, very few calls, and even only a trickle of Webex chat.
It's like the calm before the storm -- I've never seen it this quiet.
There's an air of impending doom...

Fortnite, Paul Alto, and Ariana. Great stock tips right there. I also recommend Broadkong and Goggles.

Question: is this the “same LR, new LR, next LR, announced LR or some other kind of new fanged LR”?

Pretty soon we will have some condescending, self important person telling others to learn to read because apparently it’s the “same LR”? How does anyone know which LR it is when they are literally laying off people every quarter which LR it exactly is?

As if it makes any difference to the people who lose their livelihood which LR it is! May the odds be forever in your favour. And may they actually layoff the useless SE managers, directors and other types of SE fat that has made the company so too heavy. And yes, don’t forget the gospel from the SE Supremo in the U.K.: “ change is the only constant”! Hope that piece of worthless sound bite helps people without jobs cope with their situation!

agree, if we didnt have to worry or make decisions around constant LR , we would be really productive, some of us like and are good at our job but we all say, why ki-l ourselves while our manager doesnt care , doesnt lead and our VP is clueless, so it all means that you might get a CR of 100 bucks, maybe some stock but they expect you to be available 12 hours a day and attend 40 meetings a week. Its not a job one can flourish in, just survive and make it through the rounds till its your turn.

This board may be the busiest and active on LR discussions. No other company generates recurring revenue with continuous recurring LRs.

Does every month have 28 days? Do all days of the week end in "y"? The same goes for Cisco to have a layoff. Look at all primary factors in for a layoff candidate:

  1. Are you white?
  2. Are you male?
  3. Are you 50 or older?
  4. Can someone with different skin color do your job for less?
  5. Are you truly irreplaceable (meaning you have a Golden Parachute signed contract)?

For each YES answered, your chances of being laid off double. You are nothing more than a number on a balance sheet to them. Hey Joe, this one makes $125k a year, but this H1B can do some of the job for $80k and sponsorship. Lets get the H1B because we can dump them any time.

I believe they think eventually most roles will be replaced by AI so no need to hire more humans.

I disagree with OP because it’s not like there are rumors. We know for a fact they will happen every single quarter.

@+1ss7idlD I don’t think anyone understood what you’re saying. But actually looking at Fortnite, Paul Alto, and Ariana, their stock has definitely had 1000+% increase in the past five years or so.
Feel free to buy Cisco stocks though. Great investment.

What a mundane existence. Get up, check mail, create powerpoints, attend calls. Think about next downsizing over and over. Think about what work political play to make to try to make oneself not the most obvious LR targets on the team. Rinse and repeat. Welcome to another day, week, month; year in the Cisco Matrix. Enjoy.

How sad is it that with every upcoming earnings report there are a dozen posts blurting out the same noise as is they're the first person to discover this. 23 years people. You don't need to be woke but you do need to wake up to a reality that's older than some of Cisco's employees.

There is a reason than other tech companies have grown 1000+% in the last couple of years...

So I look at the first page of https://finance.yahoo.com/news/20-fastest-growing-technology-companies-043512372.html and it lists the bottom 15 of the top 20 companies showing year over year growth from 10.24% to 23.89%, and Cisco is in that part of the list. On the second page NVIDIA is number one at 57.07%. The numbers seem to be taken from Q4CY2023 and none of them remotely hint at 1000+% over a couple of years. Cisco's revenue is already more than Arista, Fortinet, HPE, Juniper and Palo Alto combined. If Cisco did a single 10X it would generate more revenue that Apple, Microsoft or Google. The reason this isn't going to happen is covered in a junior high school earth science class.

@xga+1ss7idlD Sh-t up Sharitts no one cares about your double digit growth

Mo--ns on this board like to be aware of what is happening to pay their mortgage and put food on the table

You say sit next to your coworkers but who actually goes into an office and if you do it is normally (understandably) full of anxiety and lack of job certainty .

From the last earnings announcement... That's approx 500 ppl in Q4 and 500 more in FY25Q1. "mo--ns" on this board actually read the earnings paperwork.

"With an employee base of approximately 85,000 individuals, Cisco anticipates the majority of job cuts to materialize in the third quarter of fiscal 2024. These actions will incur an $800 million charge before taxes, covering severance and associated expenses. The company plans to recognize about $150 million of these charges in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024, with the remainder primarily accounted for in the first half of fiscal 2025."

The rumors often originate from within this board. Mo--ns here love the feeling of power, controlling other people's feelings.

Just ask your co-workers who sit next to you. They are way more relaxed than everyone else here.

There is a reason than other tech companies have grown 1000+% in the last couple of years and Cisco’s stock is below what it was in 2000 even before inflation.
