My condolences to OP. Being let go is isolating enough, but to have your partner die has to be so much more heartbreaking. I'm so sorry that you're going through that.

Yup, I was one of those moms on 4/30. Doesn't matter though, my kids and I had an amazing Mother's Day. I'm just grateful that I no longer have to compromise my time or stress about working for WF and the id--t who was my manager and my manager's manager. In fact, I'm so disgusted I think I may be done with banks/financial services.

The part about nobody caring hit me hard at first. I reached out to a half dozen of my co-workers and only two of them even replied. My own boss responded with something along the lines of "Oh, it's so terrible and I'll write back to you when it's less busy." That was last summer; never heard from him again, nor from any of my co-workers except the ones I'd specifically reached out to at first.

WF used to have those surveys where you'd answer if you had a friend at work. I used to say yes, but after I was laid off I realized the answer was no. They were not friends, they were just people being nice to me because we were coworkers. Your real friends are the people you spend time with outside of work. Never mistake a co-worker for a friend and never believe for a second that your employer cares about you as a human being.

Life is a lot easier when you accept that your job is just a paycheck, nothing more.

You are on point. It is just gross the way it's unfolding. I've worked here a long time too. A family member put it in perspective for me. Only remember how they let us go. Don't pledge allegiance to any organization that only cares about themselves and not their employees.

Not only that but people retiring after spending almost their whole lives working so hard for this company and not a single goodbye or thank you for your service email. Just gross

Our team leader.. he reminds us constantly to show empathy. He says "the business" requires it! He says each of you not showing empathy will be written up. Say oh no, I'm so sorry. Say my condolences. Say I hope you get out of the hospital, get well soon. He says "the business" said you have to let the customers know we care. The irony. "The business " doesn't care about us. 🤔

Do you remember this article from 5/2? Charlie got a raise of $4.5 million on the same day WF announced the layoffs? I bet some of these victims were struggling single mothers trying to make their living. Many of these jobs were replaced by his $4.5 million raise. This guy is the definition of an evil corporate hack.

"Wells Fargo is laying off 40 employees from its West Des Moines campus, according to the state’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) released Tuesday. It comes at the same time that Scharf’s 2023 package of $29 million was approved by shareholders, up from the $24.5 million in compensation he received in 2022."

and they, HAVING BECOME CALLOUS, have given themselves up to indecent behavior for the practice of every kind of impurity with GREEDINESS.

When they said it was effective, they weren't lying, completely.

I know someone who was laid off in the middle of chemo. Your personal situation has no bearing on anything. We are all just beans for bean counters to count.

The execs agree with you, of course. The only problem is that it's a sure sign of failed leadership. No business that employs human beings can be successful unless those people care about the work they do. They have to care and they have to have SOME degree of trust in leadership. Right now we have none of that, because shortsighted execs have placed maximizing misery to hopefully get some voluntary attrition ahead of ALL other considerations. Eventually they will be done firing people, but it's been so long and based on so many obvious lies that there will never be trust, or employees caring about their work, so long as Shart is in charge of the company. The employees in India never cared in the first place, so they aren't the savior the ivory tower is looking for either. Their approach is completely unsustainable and will fail. If they had come in, spent a year downsizing what they were going to downsize and told the truth about it, the company could have recovered. As it is, it won't. Not for years after Shart leaves.

“ I don’t understand how humans can treat other humans this way. All in all, it’s disgusting. I was wrong for expecting people to act or be better than what they actually are.”

23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Scharf and his minions will eventually have to answer for their greed.

My g-d. It's one thing for a greedy corporation to be heartless, but some of the responses to this post are just as callous.

Have you no empathy? Could you not wish the OP well? Hope you don't get treated as poorly as you're treating others.

OP, my heart goes out to you. I can't imagine what you're going through. No time to even grieve and no partner to support you. Horrible. Life is so hard.

Although this company's culture doesn't foster an empathetic environment, there are people who care.

I'm giving you a big virtual hug.

My condolences to you. I pray that everything works out for the better for you. I am so sorry that you had that experience. This seems to be the only way that Wells Fargo (employees/ managers) is to be able to handle situations related to a loss. I returned from leave due to the loss of my partner and have been treated like pure trash since. It’s like a target is placed on you because you’re grieving. I don’t understand how humans can treat other humans this way. All in all, it’s disgusting. I was wrong for expecting people to act or be better than what they actually are. It's disheartening to know that this is how things are handled across the company.

I am confused. Did you think that the death of a family member somehow exempted you for layoffs?

When Saul started location strategy before Covid-he made it clear there would not be exceptions….personal, family etc. Fast forward to RTO, it’s the same thing. It s*cks, tho that is how WF rolls……..

@veu+1ssJy8vm I downvoted it and you. Had a colleague here go out on paternity leave and was let go around 3 days after it started.

But seriously, what does anyone expect? HJ’s out behind the dumpster until you feel better? No, not that, it’s that you expect special considerations to not be fired regardless of the validity of your termination because you experienced a personal issue. Get over yourselves. This isn’t your Uncle Matt’s General Store. We’re all just cogs in the wheel. We were ALWAYS that and if you ever thought anything different that is your naivety. Don’t like it? Start your own hugs and kisses organization.

Who is voting down this thread? I know WF wouldn't care about any of this and there is not much we can do. But still that's not nice.

My deepest condolences to all of you who have loved ones that have passed away. 💔😥🙏. Also, I hope everyone finds a new job quickly after getting displaced. I will be getting displaced from WFB soon. I am so scared with the job market being so volatile right now.

I have all kinds of health issues that didn’t interfere with work and was the main breadwinner. I’m also a older, finding a job isn’t likely to happen. They don’t care. Starts got his millions, nobody else matters unless your resume says Chase somewhere on it.
