Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Stuck here due to bad job market

This place genuinely su-ks, let’s all be real with each other. Ford isn’t a place for A or B players , it’s probably closer to C- or D at best.

Morale is trash, people aren’t really working and making any decision takes weeks on weeks ( most people are warm bodies making few clicks a day or sending 1 or 2 emails)

I’m trying to beef up my resume as much as I can and wait out the storm while doing the least as possible. If you are even remotely ambitious and want to actually have a career with some success, you are probably doing the same

OP...Nah...it's you. Don't let the door hit you in the a-s on the way out.

It's not ford that su-ks, it's the upper management that su-ks. There's a lot of people with unspent motivations because "leadership" is terrible and stuck in past. That's where we need to clean house. How on earth do they keep their jobs. How is it always the workers who are enacting the "vision" from above?!

Stop blaming others for you misery, if you are skilled, you can get a new job. If you aren’t skilled, get skills.

Nobody has a right to tell people with more time than you to leave the the company. If you're younger, YOU, should leave. The argument here is you're younger and should have an easier time finding a new job. Maybe not pay the CEO 10s of millions OR organize and join a union, grow a set of ballz!!. Year after these layoffs continue, yet no union representation, just hanging on, hiding, cowering, complaining.

@1buh+1suEsfId "Ford cannot freeze the pension due to the UAW"

I believe most of the participants and discussion on this site concerns Ford Salaried Layoffs, so the UAW would have nothing to do with previous posters comment concerning freezing pensions.

Ford cannot freeze the pension due to the UAW. The only way to do it is to file for bankruptcy then Ford can freeze the pension.

I really believe the only way to clear all the warm bodies is to freeze the pension NOW.

I will get downvoted but that is the reality. So many are just doing nothing. Freeze the pension and they will leave. We have a better more profitable company.

I understand you are in your mid 50s but agree with last poster.
Hopefully the continuing pension contributions the last 2 years will help your lump sum amount recover the loss due to interest rates but that lump sum in the market would have made you more money than the pension contribution and you wouldn't have to work for it . You may also want to remember it is easier to find a job in your mid 50s if you intend on continuing to work than as you approach 60 years old.
A lot of companies don't want to hire older workers no matter how good your skill set may be.

@frq+1suEsfId. Your best lump sum was in 2022. You had 30 years in. You should have taken it and gotten another job.

32 years. Just waiting three more to retire. I'll be 55 soon but I'm going to wait until 35 years to take the max lump sum that I can. If they let me go before I get 35 I'll sue.
