This has to do with the itendEd purpose of this site "layoffs" how?
It's WF fault, It's Citi's fault. I lost my money because I didn't pay attention. They should all pay.
There is so much information that wasn't reported and yet, we have these comments that the banks are at fault. Nothing about if this person got hacked, or no alerts set up on the accounts, or did she click on a link and log into some dopes website.
OK, maybe the bank needs to auto set up alerts but the consumer is ultimately still accountable.

in my experience I find that WF makes it very difficult for people to move large sums of money in and out of the bank, especially out of the bank. I love how we have to protect people from themselves.
The customer is wholly responsible for monitoring accounts. Wells catches a lot of fraud but not all. The fact her identity was stolen, we cannot control. I transfer to outside banks all the time with no issues and i have alerts set up. We give customers the tools. I believe this is more on Citi bank honestly.
This issue is a wells problem....disregard for clients and no accountability. The firm needs to be shut down.
Yes there are lots of issues at Wells Fargo these days. However this isn’t one of them. This exact same thing could have happened to you at any bank. You won’t be reimbursed.

Oh woe is me. Another story about an aloof human who is taken advantage of by third party actors yet it’s totally someone else’s responsibility to protect them and they should be absolved of any requirements to protect themselves.
Ha, she can “withdraw all of her money and go to another bank” (what does she have left, Pennie’s?) and have the same results. Have fun with that. She’s down to 2 other major players before dipping into credit unions and junior banks.
I like stories like this. Reminds me how many ignorant people exist in the world and how easy it is to be smarter than all of them with the most modest application of intelligence and forethought.

Seems like a citi issue. They should give her her money back if it is her SS.
Why should the bank reimburse her? Did she setup alerts when there is transactions on that account? Don’t sound like it…
Wow. I hope the first thing she did was check her credit report for more fake accounts, and the second was freeze her SS number. Of course Wells Fargo will not take any sort of responsibility or reimburse her. They don’t do that.
She needs to spread the story far and wide, and then spread it again. Customers deserve to know.
