Medical Exception Remote

I am in notice period now, and have been working remote last 10 months as I got a medical exception (due to my medical condition attested by my Doctor)...

Was I let go because of this ? that I never came to work in person? that is because i had medical exception approved by HR...somehow I am blaming myself :(

I deem that it's "reasonable" to tell Shart to F off and to fire everyone in Hudson Yards.

Location huggers will fix everything that's messed up. Half my team was let go for location and we were all remotes, nowhere near a hub. Mind you our roles were spread across the country and we were weren't ver going be in a location together.

OP please speak to an employment lawyer to ensure you’re not being taken advantage of by the company. You’re a protected class under the law.

How long is your notice period, and is it working or non-working?

Had you gone to the office OP you would have been less on the radar.

Don't blame yourself op. What we're going through right now is nothing more than a list of legal/HR approved excuses to downsize and outsource people. Hudson Yards wants to get rid of as many domestic workers as possible, but for PR and liability reasons they need a justification as to why you were let go that is easily defensible in court if it comes to that. Location is low hanging fruit, but rest assured, if that justification didn't apply to you, they simply would have used a different one. It has nothing to do with your performance either. The company is eliminating a large swath of workers regardless of the consequences. It's what Shart was brought here to do, and he's an evil little man that won't stop until he gets his golden parachute.

Same happened to me. Been remote for 15 years. They told me my position was being eliminated but my letter said it was due to location. Granted I do not live anywhere near a hub so I expected it to happen. But, accommodations are simply what the company deems "reasonable". So, it won't protect anyone if they determine there is a hardship (self-defined) and it is no longer reasonable to have your position/job performed remotely.

No. I am a manager who has laid off employees this year. Your remote medical accommodation has nothing to do with the decision to select you for displacement.

Indirectly yes. On paper it's failure to relocate but it's the fact your remote and they want us gone.

Your medical exemption does not protect you from a layoff. If you are more than 40 miles from a hub you were likely let go for that reason.
