Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Can you recommend a mouse jiggler?

Boss asked why my Teams always showing idle. Told her must be in building Wi-Fi. Now I need to buy a mechanical mouse mover. Any favorite brands? Heard we can’t use the usb software devices.

"Check one of the Simpsons episodes. When Homer worked from home he was using a tool to struck his keyboard. Very effective. Not sure where you can get it." - that was a good episode. Poor Lenny getting hit with vented gas/steam. ;) "Stupid bird" when it tipped over. LOL. You can search for "The Original Drinking Bird". You might want to move to different keys throughout the day so they aren't tracking you always pressing "Y".

Corded mouse and a small oscillating fan. Using a twisty tie lash the mouse cord to the fan cover. Make sure the pointer is on the Teams site. Turn the fan on and adjust the cord length as needed.

If in the office dont use mouse jiggler... let it go idle... tell the boss, you are "Colaborating" with the 5 dozen people that stop by and distract your work to talk about what they did that weekend, or talk about some stupid food they ate. When you WFH then mouse jiggle so you can go to COstco like every claims people that WFH do (not saying they do) but god forbid you should walk away from computer to go to the bathroom, thats when MGMT will want to know why you are idle

C suite mouse jiggler is the only safe job in the company. But you do need to RTO to Dallas for it.

You don’t need a mouse jiggler. You just go into the calendar in teams and start a meeting with yourself. It will turn you red but then you just go and turn yourself green and it will stay like that allllll day. Never goes idle. I’ve been doing this for years now and it works like a charm. The only think you have to be careful of is if you are on another call and share your screen, don’t accidentally pull up the call with yourself. I always exit the call with myself before it get on other calls. You can be on two calls at once, it just puts the call with yourself on hold but then when you hang up your other one, you have to go back and resume.

I’m seeing people now just set their teams status to always show away. Boss sees you replying while away. Pretty soon status is unusable.

'Teams shows as idle when you are not actively using the application. So, you can be on your computer using other applications and Teams will show as idle."

True!

There's a workaround, though. Google is your friend.

I worked with a guy in the SE that actually retrieved eggs from his chicken coup while on a conference call. Everyone heard it. He was in NC.

So much truth to this. Don’t forget about the eurooean family vacations, private school and college for their kids

Your kids will need to take out loans.

Meanwhile, an AVP is having their kitchen remodeled and paying for it with the bonuses they got laying off the non-hub folks who actually worked an 8 hour day. Sigh.

I put a random time for the scroll lock on my script. Just so their ai tracking software doesn’t pick up a pattern :)

Run this powershell.

Clear-Host
Echo "Keep-alive with Scroll Lock..."

$WShell = New-Object -com "Wscript.Shell"

while ($true)

$WShell.sendkeys("{SCROLLLOCK}")
Start-Sleep -Milliseconds 100

"I never supported RTO until seeing the rampant entitlement and attitudes of so many managers posted here. It is clear office mandates should have been implemented a long time ago."

You are assuming this guy is for real. Most of the posts here sound like they are from folks in retail or work in the field who just make things up about telecommuters because they heard it from someone who read it online somewhere else.

I did my job, you paid me for a task, I completed the task. Period.

That's EXACTLY what you should do. 40 hours is just a guideline on how much time you should be in the office (or home). These aren't union jobs and you are paid for the job, not the time. Which is why you don't get overtime when something takes longer. You are expected to get the job done. Period. Which is why tracking time is stupid. If the following week you put in more than 40 hours? No! So they shouldn't penalize you for working less a previous week.

Yeah but these sh---y companies want to produce more where there isn't more so they can get rid of people. So if you can do 2 weeks worth of work in one day they want to push you to do months worth in weeks so they can get rid of people and dump it all on whoever is left. Fu-k the greedy ba----ds. And union guy....yeah you...the guy who is all RTO this and RTO that....how about you get off your lazy a-s and work instead of sleeping in your truck or watching tik tok videos or going to the Dennys ja----s and shut up?

What kind of micro-manager hawks on people’s Teams status? You’d think they’d have more important items to deal with.
