B of A used to be an amazing bank. Used to be. Now it's going down hill like an Olympic luge sled. No surprise. Most management is bad management. That's why 40% of all businesses that survive their infancy fail in the first five years. Egos get inflated. Favoritism rears its ugly head. People stop thinking. What do Ford, Chrysler, GM, Lehman Bros, US Steel, and Bethelem Steel all have in common? All of them either went to the very brink of bankruptcy or else went completely over the falls, despite having had virtually every competitive advantage known to man. Why? Bad management. If you want to protect your job from layoffs and office politics in general, I highly recommend reading a piece titled The Hatchet Man's Playbook. It tells you what kind of scams managers and unscrupulous co-workers will use to gain power and how to defeat them.

I’m in an GT architecture team and our incompetent leadership has not only embraced mediocrity but promoted it as well - for people who barely show up and refuse to speak or share knowledge with others. Taking on the challenging additional assignments from the executive and manager or going above and beyond in any way is not rewarded on our team. Resentment is building from team members being voluntold for every assignment now because we all know there’s no acknowledgement inside our org for extra assignments and coworkers who refuse to work are still employed somehow. But leadership’s favorites all have 10 offshore resources assigned each so they can have Senior Tech Manager titles. We have more offshore than onshore in our org. Our team and leadership is a complete joke.

To the HR rep who cut n’ pasted the recruiting pages used on college campuses - I simply say this.
Pay for Performance is a flat-out lie. Your bonus structure is beyond bad now. You’re no where even close to your competitors in the compensation realm in the major markets outside of NYC. NYC applies to NYC, but Charlotte NC applies to everywhere and everyone else. You seem think it costs the same to live in Charlotte as it does in LA, IL, DC, SF, and so on. I haven’t seen a raise in 10 years, despite being a key architect of the most profits made for my little slice of the company nearly every single year. Last year’s bonus was a friggin’ insult. The worst I have ever received in my entire career. Yet somehow we can buy back shares every quarter. Yet some how we can brag about record profits. Let me put it to you this way / Credit Unions pay better than you do now. Non-profit credit unions that are about 1/10th your size, paying better than Bank of America. Fact.

Nobody does this because they feel they’re “living their purpose”. Nobody works at Bank of America because they can bring their whole self to work. They work here to get paid. They put up with the constant confusion of your process because they are paid to. This ain’t charity. And you have been applying the loyalty penalty to your best and brightest for the last decade. I have actually told several of my peers that you have tried to recruit to be warned, and each and every one of them turned you down. It is just pure fact. You are burning out your staff so you can appease the shareholders who want their stock prices to go up $0.50 via buying back those shares you had to dilute yourselves with 10+ years ago to stay in business. Well, that’s the image anyway.

Either you are an AI BOT in response to this thread or someone who cannot spell. You meant to state "site" instead "sight". "work harder bottom feeders" sounds like something an entitled employee would be saying when protected by upper management. Are you one of them?

Most comments made on this site should be taken as a litmus test to how toxic the workplace can be at BOA. There are some hard working groups without recognition at BOA and then you have recognized groups who are slackers in the company. You know who they are.

OP's title of "B of A isnt what it used to be" was a reference to back when to what is current state. I would comment that what is going at BOA is just a sample of what is going on in corporate America. Just be lucky that you have the freedom to state your opinion today.

I’ve read many posts saying “worst company I’ve worked for” or bofa used to be a great bank. It’s still a great company. I’m very happy with benefits and pay is comparable. Bofa has benefits for mental health, and now sabbatical. They support diversity and volunteer work. Most here are angry with their minion managers who show favoritism and leave early. I am not happy with my manager but 2 levels up are great. Certain levels need to be shaken up. They have been here for 30 plus years and protect their own. It amazes me what they get away with because their leaders are 300 miles away and visit a couple times a year. Managers are spending time on powerpoint presentations to justify keeping a team of 10 when 6 do the work but they need 4 of the 10 to manage competent, reliable and very smart people. One good manager should be able to manage 6 or more. Just my take. Btw I’m a competent hard worker, prior good working manager just looking to be treated fairly. It’s not the company’s fault. It’s the downstream managers.

This is the worst company I have ever worked for in my life. I am getting tired of reporting to buffoons. They promote the d-mbest people I have ever seen in my life. I am not bitter or angry. All I want is competent leaders who know how to get things done through others. This is the basic definition of management. Is this asking too much?. I am tired of the same old empty suit mutherfockas that act like they are the shlit but just bulshilt all-day.
