Every single meeting larger than our immediate team, management somehow drops an anecdote about how wonderful the donuts are or what a wonderful chance encounter they only could have while at the office.

CLT Managers are all cowards
People will do it, with obvious sarcasm and a small hit to team morale when they see through the obvious BS. It's failed leadership from the top. It's one of those things that is obviously doomed to fail, but the ivory tower is either too d-mb to realize it or it's just part of the intentional morale tanking that's been going on for 2+ years here.
Unless your team is functioning like a team like being social and you work in the same location hub there’s a reason to be RTO-Ed. My team was absolutely all over the place and I was the only the SWE in Charlotte, it did not make sense for me to come into the office 3x a week.
People do what they have to do to keep their jobs. If you had to choose between spouting corporate BS in a meeting or having your house foreclosed what would you do? I think I know the answer.
It’s just like all this career development BS. Is it supposed to assuage the guilt leadership feels about laying people off?
“If working in a CHARLOTTE WF office is improving your life, your life is awful”
Fixed it for you.
If working in a WF office is improving your life, your life is awful.
My manager hates the whole thing and is open about it.
It's all about power and control. If you think otherwise you are a complete id--t.
It cannot last long-term. Almost like thinking masks or 6ft separation saved lives.
WF Managers are all cowards!
