Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Too many promotions to Principle Architects/Engineers creating overkill but no real work

And the rest were sent packing through LR last couple years. Very sensible plan from Cisco to pay more to those selected hoping to cash on revenue. But no, it turned out to be just another bad decision by leadership like many before. With no revenue gains, sales and CX leadership is now struggling to cut headcount creating a mess and low morale. More to come soon…

That's the filth in Cisco and white collar money laundering.
Take for example CX, so many engineering Sr. Managers and Directors with no technical or business knowledge cutting big pay check. Just know how to talk like parrots with mgmt. It is pathetic state of Cisco

Churning going on right now prepping for next rounds of LR, as to Cisco v Splunk duplication. Does Sp--k really make a dent in earnings or just a slow grind like AppD?

I agree with the first response - the DA, PAs, PEs are not that numerous compared to the many layers of management. Flattening Cisco from 9 -11 layers, down to 4-5 would make more sense than removing our last remaining vestigates of highly knowledgeable technical talent.

Those engineers don't seem to be given enough leeway (or budget) to action on the innovative ideas they bring to the table. In-house development, is the best route for any tech company. You get clean code (rather than spagetti code you get from trying to integrate several aquisitions into one product line), exactly the products you want to produce, and the ability to rapidly respond to customer wants and needs.

Cisco doesn't give our engineers as much freedom to innovate as they need to be successful. The power points and meetings to discuss the power points - are PAs and PEs trying to get sponsors to fund their ideas. And unfortunately a lot of them are great at understanding technology and upcoming needs, but less great at explaining those needs to directors/vp's that are non-technical. So they have trouble getting traction on new ideas.

What we need are a few great speakers and technical comms folks that could explain those innovations to our non-technical leadership and get our PA's and PE's funding.

In SBG most PE/PA have no real work. They attend every freaking meeting and talk nonsense just to pretend to be busy. They are experts in creating powerpoint slides and schedule meetings to discuss the slides with no real objective or deliverable. These guys are not marketable otherwise would have left Cisco already.

What? There are 20 directors + for every principal. And the directors are the problem. Although most PE/PA are pretty clueless too
