With all the layoffs and offshoring happening it's funny how this is the one article the media covers in regards to employees being let go

You're saying your home is a registered location and your manager who needs to be a QS, needs to audit your home and you're non client facing? Nope don't buy it.

I guess anyone wondering if they can see through vpns, mouse tricks , etc got your answer. Big brother sees all.

@bfj anywhere that isn’t your home location on file. Vacation, friends house by the pool, even at home but out grocery shopping while your mouse jiggler works making it look like you’re working is a violation.

Client facing has nothing to do with it. I’m not but licensed & covered under it. Your manager should have talked to you if you were affected. It’s all about being able to supervise & audit remote locations. There were multiple posts here about this about 2 weeks ago.

F these people. They are going to ruin it for the rest of us by being greedy. I WFH sometimes but I give back my commute time to the company. You win and I win. I would never think of trying to cheat the system. It's a good thing.

“The free ride is over…”

It wasn’t even a “free ride” for those actually doing their jobs adequately full remote. It was just doing the same work they’d do in office… but at home. Only break we were being given was the need to commute, which is ostensibly irrelevant to WFC.

I really wish instead of forcing everyone in, they’d just fire the people not performing (whether in-office or remote) and replace them with people who can do the job regardless of where. Then maybe we could save money off leases and utilities and have to cut less positions.

Those FINRA rules will only apply to client facing people though. Us staff folks that are also registered won't be impacted by the supervision rules of remote locations.

Curious though, sounds like you know about these folks. Were they all in STL? And where were they if they weren't at home or in the office?

Is this only in certain groups? I can’t see random tech managers not being allowed to log on a vacation or at a relatives house

This was in complaints. Working remotely & setting up mouse jigglers. Then not where they were supposed to be. They tracked & warned them. Continued to happen so they fired them on the spot. More than 12. No severance & U-4 documented so they are done in the financial industry. This is the kinda stuff that will have us all back in office 5 days.
Also falls in line with the new Finra remote rules on June 1. You can only work remotely at your private residence on file. No other locations. Story name WFA RSL. Finra is cracking down on the audit rules industry-wide.

What a lot of people aren't recognizing here is that these folks were probably deadbeats and this gave WIM a good opportunity to let them go. It's tough to get fired but don't FAFO.

Heh, I WFH full-time and don't bother jiggling the mouse until the screen shuts off.

I still meet all expected goals and get all work done on, or ahead of, time. I don't need a device to hide how efficient I am. I want them to see.

Unless it needs to be listed on their u5 with FINRA, then everyone can see it. Probably won't work in the brokerage industry anymore.

id argue that people who get fired for slacking off will do the same whether at home or in the office. Lazy is laze no matter where one is located

Good. F them. You want to blame Sr Leadership for RTO? Nope. It’s every phookstick that used these devices, was eternally unavailable over chat, would answer emails hours later, etc.

That’s why our good life is over. It only falls in lockstep with other financial orgs because they have the same issues. The free ride is coming to an end all because folks couldn’t be bothered to do the minimums

I was fired when I found a security breach in one of our systems. I followed protocol and turned it in and 3 months later they fired me. See something Say nothing folks. 20+ years gone because I did the right thing.

Sigh… just giving them reasons to go back to 5 days a week in the office. What jobs were they doing I wonder?

Fired for using mouse jigglers. I always knew those were detectable.

I guess you just tell your next employer that you were laid off?
