  1. The email is genuine an ethics case has been raised with Cisco, a copy of the email was attached to the ethics case. This has to be done should legal proceedings follow as the first question asked is have you raised the issue with Cisco. If Cisco ignore the ethics case then it will not look good when and if it goes legal.
  1. If you are an employee or ex employee of Cisco I refer you to the director of employee relations emea, to either confirm or deny the ethics case and email exists. Please keep this post informed of any response.
  1. To the person who posted the comment below. Are you are stating that Cisco have never told anyone not to contact current and past employees. If so you either have some inside knowledge or it shows the gravity and desperation of Cisco resorting to name calling because your statement implies you are Cisco.

Cisco have made serious accusations against me in the past and legal proceedings were settled outside of court, so no I’m not insane. Ciscos stated there was no data to support the accusations yet there was plenty of evidence including independent witnesses verifying my conduct was good and the accusations were made up. We later discovered the exec who made up the accusations had acted in a similar fashion at one of his previous companies, that company fired him, Cisco backed him. I ask the same question as to why?

What I want to do is move on but when you receive an email from Cisco requesting you not to contact existing and past employees it has to be taken as a serious threat.

Share exact method Cisco communicated the message. Be straight and you will get straight advice. This has never happened so give the exact message. Give they call or email and how? Was that a Cisco prank?

Did you do anything that make Cisco do this? If not are you insane and can think logically?

Contacting and talking to Cisco current employees and previous employees is completely legal. Can you clarify what you mean? No company can do this. It is not legal. If this is true and Cisco officially is asking you to not contact current or previous employees then you should talk to a lawyer.

I was LR’d but still in the industry. I found their behaviour somewhat alarming, and I agree, if I contact someone it’s up the that person if they want to converse, it’s nothing to do with Cisco. I just wondered if it was just me who got this type of empty threat. Thanks for the feedback

So I understand clearly - you were LR'd, no longer work for the company, and you received this? If so, did they send it to your personal email?

What do you mean by not contacting past and current employees at Cisco? If you are working at Cisco then you are contacting current employees on a daily basis and it is no one business who you talk to outside of Cisco.

There is no binding contract, but I do care because if I speak to existing employees and Cisco find out about it, I am concerned those individuals could be impacted. The underlying tone and Ciscos behaviour is of concern.

Unless you’ve signed a legally binding contract, or do business with Cisco, then who cares? They can’t do anything to you for reaching out to an individual.
