I work in TOS, and our manager told us they were informed that the company is no longer allowing floating holidays nor are we allowed to work on a holiday (ex. President's Day) in exchange for a different day off. Throw in the company's anti-vacation carry-over policy and it feels they're doing everything possible to make this a less desirable place to work!

Where are you all getting this information?? This is straight from the HR Policy on Holidays:
"If a holiday falls on a Saturday, eligible employees will receive an additional My Holiday day off at the start of the quarter in which the holiday falls (e.g., Veterans Day would be awarded Oct. 1)."
Colleagues, this policy change/takeaway applies to holidays that may fall on a weekend. Veterans Day for example. If it is not observed by the bank with a Monday office closure, you no longer receive a floater day. Those floater days used to appear in your available time off totals. No longer. It is another benefit change that does not benefit the employees.
At least for my department it's a manager decision. If you have a project or critical deadline that demands it, you can work and take a floater. But my management really pushes for a legitimate reason other than just employee convenience or desire to use it on another day. I believe that is the corporate stance too.
In tech and we still allow this.
I hope all those TOS trainees know that after two years, you need to seek out a better place to work. Increase your pay 40% and work for a company that respects your talents and will continue to train you on new technologies.
People are still working holidays and taking floaters in my department. No one is listening to any of this.
I believe it's been a policy for years that if you work on a holiday, you don't get a floating holiday for the hours that you work. You get the holiday pay + paid for the hours you work. I know when I first started for the company, they did give you a floating holiday if you worked on a holiday. But I don't recall when that changed.
What happens if there is a pressing issue that requires you to work on a holiday? They want free labor? Definitely ignoring this policy...F U.S. Bank
