If so then why isn’t Yahoo Finance adjusting their headcount for BNYM? They certainly adjusted their headcount rapidly in the 2000 to 2008 10% per year, every year, no exceptions era.

Why would I look it up? I lived it!
You could spend years at the library going through fiche of the Pittsburgh Press, Post Gazette, Tribune Reviews, etc. but all of it is poorly sourced and mostly inaccurate reporters. If you want the truth you need to go to a business library and research every quarterly report and build a spreadsheet of every quarterly displacement.
But you have no idea what fiche is let alone how to search old business libraries.
You made a half baked attempt to search articles, likely by googling and giving up.
Whenever there’s an acquisition or a merger, there’s bound to be people being let go. That’s taking advantage of economies of scale. But this is something different. It’s not people being let go because of a merger and staff reduction due to duplication of roles. It’s because they decided to create growth centers in places where they could pay lower wages and simply move the positions to those locations without regard to the loss of experienced personnel and subject matter experts.

@OP - simply reiterating the same statement over and over does not make it true. Why don't you prove it? Can't, can you. All it would take is a little research. Clearly @1uqf did a little research and found proof that for at least one year your 10% assertion is not correct. So give us a chart with the year end employee numbers for 2000-2008 why don't you?

@OP - Back in the layoff era, the layoff numbers of "10% per year, every year" were imaginary. Here's an example from the Pittsburgh Business Times showing at least one year - 2004 - where you are inflating the number to suit your imaginary 10%:
" Employment at Mellon declined by 400 during the fourth quarter of 2004 to 20,900. During the year (i.e., all of 2004) , the company reduced headcount by 1,600 or 7 percent."
Seven percent does not equal 10%. Please stop with your imaginary numbers.
Today a large layoff is extremely rare and it’s 1% maximum.
We aren’t allowed to keep personal items at our desks anymore because of “hoteling,” but really it makes it easier for them come layoff time. And prior to Covid we weren’t allowed back at our desks to gather belongings either if laid off. Someone would be waiting with their coat, purse, wallet, cell phone etc. and they would be escorted out be security. Their remaining personal items were mailed back. Nowadays we are laid off on a conference call once we get home, so we don’t have to be escorted out and no one notices. And since we can’t have personal items at our desks it’s easy peasy. Back in your layoff era websites like this didn’t exist. GO AWAY!
Go away. Stop focusing on 25 years ago. We still experience 10%+ layoffs. There’s just not enough US staff left for someone as oblivious as you to notice since you don’t work here anymore. There was like a total of 90% layoffs over the course of a few years in US teams and work moved offshore. You are just convinced everyone is making it up for some reason GO AWAY!!!!
