Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The Plan is working

I’m actually starting to have anxiety about going back into the office. I’m tired of worrying about finding a place to sit, trying to work with halfas equipment, tired of worrying about staying in green status, tired of the ever looming threat of layoff. Can’t imagine doing this another 7 yrs until I’m Medicare eligible. Stupid presence report; I’m not in 9th grade! I’ve got a f n masters degree! The plan is working.

Oh please. Everything was great my entire career until they closed multiple buildings last year and squeezed everyone into a few buildings playing the hunger games for a desk.

CO techs have a desk and an entire building to themselves. Field techs have a rolling office to themselves so I don’t want to hear from self proclaimed “union slugs” on this topic.

I love all the AK posts. Can't wait until these people are 55+ with 42 cents in the bank and "skills" that are useless anywhere but AT&T, because T tells you exactly how to do your job and nowhere else on earth is the job done that way.

Some of you are in for a rude awakening. I'm ending up right where I wanted to be. But at least I have empathy for those who don't.

Pretty sure so.e of you got beat up in gym class for 10 years, and needed to be. And still do.

Maybe it depends on where you are & the availability of decent counselors, but i tried EAP services a few times & it was largely a waste of time - I suspect it's one of those things a company offers just to say it does. Plus, just like everything else, it's gotten worse over the years.”

LOL - reminds me of a few years ago when they sent out to all their employees the cr-ppiest, made in China, flimsy step counters because “they care about our health”

"If I went into the office and there were no seats with functioning equipment, I’d document it, inform my boss and then go back home. That’s on them."

That's exactly how my dept. works.

Don't know current HR rules. But, company paid health ins for six months after surplus & at a reasonable price; cobra for a year.

So, 63.5 was my surplus date & I had better health at a low cost. Determine at what age you have more more than life & save yourself. At age 20 ; I had no money and a longer life.

Of course, my work product lowered to next to nothing as I neared target date. And my complaints in email to upper management were daily. I moved up the surplus list quickly. Also, annoying my co-workers had them complaining about me.
