She certainly made this a worse place to work.

Suresh was a dreamer and Bridget was more realistic. That said, she tended to listen to FOB over people who clearly knew more

@cmt

Bell Labs is by far the best technical background of any CIO that the Bank has ever had.

Unfortunately a CIO is a business position, not a techy job.

Am I the only one who felt that she did a great job cleaning up after Suresh?

Certainly she was the best CIO in terms of actually understanding technology..

Why was she replaced?

I was taught about the acronym FOB that refers to some of the production services directors. Friends of Bridget. They came with her from other places.

I'm assuming the replacement knows how to get ahead by fooling around with the boss, so there's that.

Old school CIO with very large PMO bureaucracy to generate decks, missed various opportunities for cloud, stifled real innovation, surrounded herself with sycophants & technocrats, destroyed the company and the career of many talented individuals

Let's watch the other dominos fall; Here's hoping that Hirshhorn is next. A middle-tech guy posing as a CDO.

Wait for 6 months to see the impact of the replacement. I guess brit and brit will go well together? Also why not promote internally? I heard AS has been eyeing this position for some time.

What will happen to the puppets who were dancing to her tunes? “Be more for your clients by using Artificial Intelligence “

I heard her talk in one event co-sponsored by Microsoft. A very accomplished Microsoft lady tech executive was also attending the event. They both spoke and made me wonder why was Bridget even there? She made some poor jokes about her own career, talked about 1985 Bell Labs and some word salad.

Coming from another bank and hearing hear speak on my first week I thought she was an associate

Yes she was let go and quite frankly a joke for someone at that level. Robin & Dermot will continue to bring in actual leaders who don't read off a script every time they have to speak.

I thought she was old school and not in touch with new technology advancements. Thats why she surrounded herself with people who made her look good and who helped her hide her flaws. I dont know even a single idea of advancement that actually came originally from her. Bridget was also quite non approachable and so full of herself. Well, many executives at BNY are like that.

The only surprise here is that Robin took so long to replace her. I always liked her, but I think putting Operations under her was a mistake.
