Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

More layoffs imagine that

Looks like they're going after the work from home people now. Few months back a few Union Bank people's Jobs were eliminated and now some work from home people where let go. These people have been work from home for a long time and have been with the bank for a long time. Get rid of dedicated people and bringing new people who don't know anything just to save a buck or maybe it's just the person in charge doesn't like people to work from home. They want us in the office 3 days a week to collaborate but when I'm in the office I barely talk to anybody. I collaborate more on teams than I do anything else. I just don't understand this company anymore.

This RTO debacle was completely unnecessary if they'd have had accountability for areas that were a) deemed necessary for hybrid/in office (which they supposedly did last year) and b) held those areas ACCOUNTABLE. instead, they threw the baby out with the bathwater.

Additionally, having the hoteling disproportionally impacts women negatively. Most (not all) women are sensitive to having an environment that is perceived as stable and welcoming while men are less attuned to their physical working space. Professional women carry more with them they have to haul back and forth daily - makeup/hair touchups etc - can't leave any of that at your desk anymore - just pack mule it. Not well thought out from a supposed DEI champion.

This concept of RTO and Collaboration is a farce. Incompetent HR and Execs are too lazy to build a culture and think everyone in an office automatically builds a culture. There is also the stigma of mistrust, that if you aren’t in an office then you must be goofing off. Output is not a concept. Just look at the UB acquisition, the whole thing was done during a pandemic and people working remote. Our leaders need to come clean as to why they think RTO is necessary and not go back to draconian ways of working.

In my division, our EVP is all in on the 3 days a week in office. I sense that a lot of the managers below him are just promoting it in order to "follow the rules". And I'm like one of the other posters here. The days I'm in the office, I sit at my desk with my headphones on and just do my work. I have almost no interaction with my coworkers.

Most ‘bosses’ and their ‘bosses’ don’t want this either.

A few years from now, once they can unload these real estate assets, we will gradually become more remote again. Elfio will be singing a whole new ture about how the “organism” has evolved. He’s reads this site and is becoming unhinged. Hi 👋🏼 Elfio!!!

Just remember that RTO isn’t about collaboration; it’s about utilizing a corporate real estate asset and making sure your boss can watch you. That’s literally it.

Right. I’m in the office with headphones on to get away from loud talking disruptions everywhere and I barely say one thing to anyone. I’ll do my collab via teams when I need to otherwise I’m working my butt off. Bunch of nonsense as usual.
