“Our Bengaluru Tech Center has grown so much in the last few years.” Then goes on to talk about bringing BTC engineer to Houston.

Waiting for the post bragging about the reduction in HC10 headcount and replacing them with Indians including in Houston and Midland.

This is a promotional video for the home team in India. It’s meant to imply there is hope you can to get to Houston and you are equal in the eyes of the corporation.

Can someone post link of the latest ad as well for India hiring., that has great production value as well. Give credit where it’s due - it’s amazing how fast we grew India and are making Shell, Chevron and BP nervous about it.
Exxon is winning - yes, some folks are losing but as a company we are winning

All your project support is from India, IT is from India, digital platforms creation and support is from India (look at SAP labs in India - it’s their largest footprint). Engineering will be from India too.
Boys, you are living under the hood.
As someone said, this is same as manufacturing going to China and Automation, your jobs will go to India and AI - have a Plan B (not the pill kind)

If that person’s work is only correct 20% of the time then the pay rate is appropriate.

Is paying someone 20% of another person’s pay for the same job, just based on National origin, unethical?

The BTC engineer in question is a late career engineer brought from middle east with huge paycut. Its all acting and show, thats why he was selected for the video bu our great incompetent Houston bred LCM based on fake ‘behaviors’ of yessir and you say jump I say how high.

Regardless till much better than the aging workforce in Houston whose only skill is playing political games and having coffee chats at Third Gen to find their next jobs.

While the rest of the corporation works their @@@ off, they had the time to make videos. If that tech center is so good, they don’t need to make internal promotional videos. Who are they selling and promoting to?

If Im cutting cost, I wouldn’t even hire cheap btc. Paying cheap and getting nothing at all.

Executives save company money by firing US and Canadian employees and outsourcing to Brazil, Czechia, and India. The money saved is then transferred directly to DW's account as a huge bonus. Then employees left behind are forced to train people and fix work done by inexperienced newbies. Even train people who turn around and leave for more money. It is a great gig...get paid to learn from 20 years even 30 year experienced engineers and then bail for another company. Meanwhile the experienced employee is left to do the work of 3 and be a trainer. We are all really stupid to fall for this.

Not sure why all the REs sitting in Spring and collecting $200k-$300k annually to skim vendor technical reports keep raging at people in other countries for “taking” their jobs.

These jobs are being sent to these countries by your executives. Last time I checked most of those guys weren’t ethnic.

Here’s another hot-take: if your job can be done in a low-cost center, then it probably doesn’t take a lot of skill. Note that nuclear engineers and cardiovascular surgeons aren’t complaining about outsourcing.

Entitled Houston employees think what they are doing is so complicated that it can’t be taught to others or anyone outside Houston can’t learn them. They forget, at their own peril, that they are in an age old industry that’s riding into the sunset, where much of what has been learnt over the years can be transferred to low cost locations effectively.

A laid off EM employee should do a similar video discussing how EM is moving work to India and importing cheaper Indian labor to fill jobs in the USA.

The guy in the video should have mentioned that he gets paid 20% of the salary of the USA guy that he is replacing, due to EM salary discrimination based on National Origin.

No worries, his work products are only correct 20% of the time.

To be accurate, the ad should have mentioned what % of BTC work requires rework and that he was being transferred to the USA to work directly for the people that redo his work because EM has simply given up on the slow pace of learning at BTC and needs to try something new to teach them faster.

Such bad deliverables that it will be dangerous once achieves critical mass and all the Checkers in USA are PIPd.

We let them have it. American schools don't value using intelligence, working diligently, respect for authority, the value of the family, etc. Haven't done so for decades. We raised a bunch who learned to jump through a few hoops while expecting to be entitled to everything excellent while not being concerned for business results or effectiveness, only "atta boys". F em, let the chips fall until more can see what they have and make the most of it.

Europe is an order of magnitude worse than America. Where we are is where you're going. It's not pretty.

That BTC video was disgusting.

Until the Executive committee is made of of Indians in BTC, then it just shows a lack of commitment by the Executives.

It seems much easier, and safer, to replace a CFO with zero oilfield knowledge with an Indian accountant than to replace a competent process designer with an Indian engineer.

I've seen this trend in other companies as well.

Back in 2021, we were all happy to finally prove our point that we could be 120% productive working remotely. And we proved that.

But you know what we also proved?

That the resource in a Teams meeting can easily be in another part of the world .

Welcome to the NEW GLOBAL Workforce!

It is here to stay. Many companies boosting their bottom line by saving gigantics amount in labor. All legal and NO VISA is needed.

Just saying.
