All open jobs posted ?

Are all open jobs posted externally ? I am a contractor and have been noticing people getting positions that I haven’t seen open on the public site?

Openings don’t even have to be published internally. I’ve made two internal moves (laterals) between groups with no posted opening. A coworker just made a lateral with no interview and the position wasn’t posted.

Just because a job isn’t posted or is only up for a day doesn’t mean any flavor of favoritism is happening. Just that there is already a solid applicant.

Why the heck would you want to try and convert anyway? Have you not been following along here?

You can opt to not post externally, but I've never heard of not posting internally and just posting externally

No, jobs don’t have to be posted externally. That is a LOB decision and then also a mgt/HR one. Several years ago, I had to get approval to post externally as the internal candidate pool was not the best.

What if it’s up for only a day so the shoe-in crony can apply?
