Seen a few of these at Cisco. Typically the layoffs have a package and employees either resist and challenge or accept the package and leave. There is apparently a third alternative where employees continue to stay on directory unassigned to any work , despite having being laid off. Any information, is that a doctors note, or some arrangement where one continues to stay on the roster and paid salary by Cisco for many months ?

This certainly used to be the case in France and Germany.
I had one colleague in Germany and two in France that were LRed but they stayed until they found a job they were happy to take. They still got the same package. In the case of the German colleague he continued to be employed by Cisco for nearly a year. They were both G11 or 12 and this was in 2014/15.
Apparently that’s the way their redundancy laws work, or worked at that time.
If someone is in Directory they're still on payroll even if they've left the company.
No challenging, it’s a one way exit.
Yeah, VP/SVP can hang around for a while. There were loads under MM - JMon, SBoy, JD, GRas…on between $1m and $4m tc for SVP. Huge sign ons.
A larger tsunami is coming for sure and you may be part of that list, these people were the 'early unlucky ones' that have some extra time compared to those being told in last minute in July or August
"Doctors note?"
Amazon employees use FMLA policies to postpone layoffs. It's a bit of a loophole to delay a layoff by getting a doctors note for depression/anxiety.
Doctors note? This is not third-grade Clueless. Pack a lunch.
another perk is an interest free mortgage at VP level and above. great recruiting tool to get someone to relocate
VPs and higher can negotiate that. It's a perk to help them find another externally job... since it's easier to find a job while employed. Do not think that perk is available below VP level
You're so full of sh-t
