Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Comparing employees from different locations.

Have you noticed that the quality of the employee differs drastically from state to state?

Dealing with employees from Atlanta and Dallas is the worst. I’ve never seen such lazy entitled do nothings. They know I’m 3 levels above them, and could care less. If they treat fellow employees like this, I can only imagine how they treat customers.

To add, Birmingham people say they are scared of their office because it’s a health code disaster

I thought they got rid of the AOC a few years back.

You’re 100% right. Try getting a techonician to give you an update on an outage or god forbid they actually have to do some troubleshooting and fix something. Don’t ask them to close out a ticket for a circuit that’s been up for days. They’re too busy and don’t give a sh-it.

Escalate to their Director? No response.

Failure. Now they’re hiring techs from overseas who don’t even answer the phone, emails or teams messages.

We are scre-wed.

Outsourcing access to our nations communications infrastructure. Who cares! We saved a buck.

You should try dealing with your health care on the phone with someone in some foreign country.

Most 2nd and 3rd levels I’ve known over the years got their positions because their family before them worked for T for years. ATT is a nepotism and political who knows who company and always will be. Sure, there are exceptions, but you need to be part of the good ole boys club to get anywhere within T! If you have no clout, don’t bother!

The only way to stop the zip code discrimination is to get a large law firm with the resources to document the discriminatory actions and file a class action lawsuit. There definitely is an ageism case, the CEO has said several discriminatory things pertaining to older employees, over the last couple of years. They also protect certain employees and target others in job relocation and RTO.

I have moved around in the company since the 90's when it was easier and there was great relocation benefits. I do find that the folks in the north east do hustle more and are more ambitious then those in the south who are definitely more laid back.

No 3 level-uppers have ever done anything to earn respect in all the years I worked at AT&T. Cry More.

ATT can’t discriminate the old fashioned ways, so it invented zip code discrimination. Could have just funded Labs better and focused on the business.

You sound like a D-Bag and probably feel everyone in your personal life should bow to you. Are you Stanky??

Hmm. Three levels above people who have low morale or burnout and it is showing. Maybe YOU are part of the problem?

Oh, someone forgot to stop and worship me today and my job title. They are hereby labeled do-nothings.

Get over yourself.

Op you should be in Dallas if you’re that high up. We don’t cater to short timers.

To add, Birmingham people say they are scared of their office because it’s a health code disaster, but they are some of the most organized people I’ve met. They are due for wave 3. Pennsylvania and Nashville people are friendly and hard working.

People in St Louis and San Ramon are amazing and stable, but they are being wiped out. Atlanta people seem nice, but miserable. Dallas people seem delusional and argumentative and sometimes make no sense in their thinking logic. Dallas people are horrible ramblers. Seattle people have wide ranges in personality but are really fun to work with. New Jersey people seem drab, not confrontational, but not assertive either. Dead behind the eyes.

Not sure who you’re dealing with. Are the folks like contractors or something? You certainly aren’t dealing with any L2 office workers. That would make you an AVP or VP. I doubt those folks post here, we know they read this board. Most people I’ve worked with usually try their best to help others. Though there are a few (usually the old timers) who routinely say no to everything or dig their heels in. Most try to do a good job and help others.

The person three levels over everyone can’t figure out why people in Dallas and Atlanta have bad attitudes. I’m not shocked. Leadership is completely blind and disconnected from reality.

It is a culture issue. The culture at T has been going downhill since RS took over. It won’t improve until JS and a new CEO is in place. Even then it may continue to be abysmal depending upon who is announce as his replacement.

It is called the T culture and it starts from the top.

How are the T culture survey results coming along? That should tell you all you need to know.
Again, culture starts from the top.

Can’t blame them. They all had to pack up their families and move. Of course they’re disgruntled. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
