Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

GM Surpluses

Anyone have any insight on the timing for the next round of GM layoffs within ATS? Was curious if it would coincide with the earnings call on Wednesday. I heard August but wasn’t sure if that was off payroll or when notifications are coming out. No fun, but preparing for the letter should it come. Better to prepare for it and be pleasantly surprised by having the opportunity to keep my job.

Wake up! GMs don’t get laid off, they are announced as, “So and so has decided to leave” with a nice write up about the awesome job they did.

The next layoff in Network Engineering Ope/ Choy/Sambar org is October. Letters will be issued end of September but lists are already in by VP. All decisions made by likability — no ranking. Some getting it because they asked - I guess that ok bc they didn’t want to be here but there was a time where surplus at least was attempted to do fairly. No more. They keep favorites and layoff good workers but who aren’t in the VP clan in Alpharetta, GA. Lenox has become the lower tier and Alpharetta people gets ranked higher bc that’s where the VP resides. No Dallas for any of these peeps.

Not sure on timing at all, but I have also heard that 3rd and 4th levels are in danger before end of year.

Larger scopes of work coming.

“managers don't call managers GM's. Union does though.”

That’s not true. Leadership refers to L3s and L4s as “GMs” (as in General Managers) all of the time. Common term around here.
