Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I gave up being bothered by layoffs

I just can’t be fearful about losing my job anymore. At one point my health will break down completely, and I’ll no longer be able to take care of myself, let alone work. We all are unfortunately entangled in different debt schemes, and with today’s living standard we really do live from paycheck to paycheck, so seeing losing a job as a horror scenario is justified. It’s just that we all fear about stuff we can’t change. I decided to let it all go, and see what happens. While, ofc, I’m looking for another job. I’m just not going to be all panicked about it all the time.

Stock market doesn’t pay for my electricity , gas, food, medicine and any other necessities, interest rates are also high, inflation matters. You sound like an elitist, with that stock market post. Most people and especially younger people can’t afford stocks due to high prices. Do you ever read real news articles and common people’s struggles due to inflation?

Yeah yeah yeah. You all think in terms of minutes, weeks, months and maybe a year or so when it comes to long term thinking. Go climb your poles and hide.

“You are so right. I will be so glad when employees stop buying over priced cars and homes and then having panic attacks the minute they hear a layoff is coming. They spread the stress and anxiety while they spend $30 a day minimum on bad food and save no money. Stop acting like victims and act like people who are built to survive.”

Sounds like a boomer who bought his home 100 years ago for 150k that now is worth 700k. The old cr*p employees who think they know it all but operate like dinosaurs and hold us back because “it’s not the way we do things here” need to leave. Retire. Leave it to the innovators Loser

Regarding the inflation tables - you proved the other posters point. Go back to school.

I left after 19 yeas and am 59. Severance 6-months and took it a ran. Will never look back and feel just fine, leadership or whatever they call themselves do not care about you and your wants. They only care about themself and this BS pay packages and bonuses. They don’t care about you and your career- wake up! They don’t care.

“I am not worried about layoffs because I am in mobility and we carry the company. We do need to lose some of the in legacy to make the company better.”

They’re cutting young developers, security experts, DevOps experts (remember the Azure migration we JUST did?), cell technology experts (even though we’re migrating everything to Ericsson), and various other technical valuable employees as well.

It isn’t just legacy, it’s an overly wide geographical net that sweeps up thousands of talented people that we need. I’m in ATS and we’re losing thousands…if you think it’s ALL legacy you’re either stupid, misinformed, or a sycophant.

Well, if you don’t care, then don’t visit this site and keep quiet (both to really prove you don’t care).

I stopped caring about it 5 years ago or so, resolved that it's going to happen at some point, and have tried to prepare for it as best as possible with my personal finance situation. I'll be alright and actually glad when it does happen. My job isn't horrible, and the pay is very good, I am just tired of working where no one gives a rats aZZ about each other. Yes, I should just leave but not willing to give up my severance. So I'll keep plugging along.

T doesn’t lay off by performance so there really isn’t anything you can do, which is another reason why the company is in its current state.

T lays off by geography and other arbitrary factors that none of us can control. Save up some money, chill, don’t worry about it, and take the time to look for another job or recharge.

Actually, some of us are debt free, have been for many years, and are not living paycheck to paycheck.
