Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is no one going to talk about the obvious?

I’m really annoyed that leadership has said absolutely nothing about how everyone is essentially walking on egg shells about lay offs, so when is it going to be addressed? It’s super uncomfortable coming into the office and hearing that multiple orgs are doing layoffs and the RTO being one of the reasons. I’ve heard August is when we’ll see a lot of layoffs because of that, but I’ll be honest, this isn’t helping anyone.

It’s the debt!!!!!!!!!

You people just don’t get it.

They went to town buying companies with the fu-cking credit card and failed miserably.

Over 100 billion in debt. 16 B per year in free cash flow. Revenue declining.

Leadership has been told to take risks to minimize costs. Think about that.

They’re so desperate, they have no other options. We’re not talking about innovators here. We’re talking about a team of yes sirs following a loser who destroyed the company.

We will never turn this ship around with the current leadership team. It’s a race to the bottom.

I’ll address it for you. Here’s what they’d say: “If you don’t like it, then leave”.

" when is it going to be addressed"

It's addressed constantly.

They will never state that "the layoff are over", because that has not been the case for the last 10 years, and it will not be the case for the foreseeable future.

They don't care about any stress or anxiety that may cause you. They WANT you to leave.

You need to either leave, or change your mindset to "F 'em, I'm staying" if you don't want to leave or are not yet in a position to leave...while understanding that your number is likely to come up anyway.

Sambar said "if u dont like it here, LEAVE" folks, these are the kind of people in charge. This kind of mindset, so primitive and is a cancer for anything innovative. For as long as we have this mindset choking us, no progress will ever happen.

The obvious thing that should be talked about is how much the Stink is a P O S and should be immediately fired. And the BoD should be replaced. And Ratty's consulting contract needs to be immediately terminated.

What is there to talk about?

Layoffs will continue. Most folks will not be laid off; many will. Some who will be laid off will be happy about it; most won't be happy. Lots of folks feel some level of anxiety. Some will end up leaving on their own terms; some won't...

Employees have been "walking on eggshells over layoffs" since they started in 1999. Leadership did not care then and they will not care now. You are just a number in the liabilities section of the balance sheet.
