Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

They really expected 15% to go for VSP?

And now we are going to have a bloodbath anyway?

They needed 10 k VZ wide and got close to 5k. RIF lists are being made in our dept.

They did reach their goal corporate wide. Now maybe some business units did not reach their individual goal. Another story for another time. That being said, once the dust settles and the reorgs happen, there will be more downsizing one way or another. If you didn't volunteer, living with the uncertainty comes with the job.

Very broad term- “software engineer!” There are thousands of systems and government contracts - smh!

depends on the group. for software engineering, they literally said they want zero onshore. they want them all to be offshore, or rebadge and moved to contract positions. they will retain those with in depth knowledge of the network, but those are very few in number.

for this group, the vsp aim was 40-60%. then rif coming up, and those who remain will be rebadged. it's going to be bloody.

In my all hands I was just told they were looking for 5%. Some areas hit that some didn’t. A bunch of directors and associate directors hit the button
