Agile Delivery Practice Mess

Such a mess we have created with this practice with the head having no clue how to run this.

@21b
those are 2 separate events. raking in the moolah and rv working on his exit before all the poms collapse. Its just how this is going to end, there is no perception here..this is history repeating itself. Thanks for your wisdom, but everyone on this board knows that mckinsey is a lousy "consulting" group and that they invoice their clients... duh

@vem

“ Meanwhile rv and McKinsey is raking in the moolah along with formulating his exit plan.”

LOL. McKinsey is a consulting group so of course they’re invoicing the Bank for their worth. There is no “McKinsey” “raking in the moolah formulating his own exit plan”. McKinsey is happy to bill BNY as long we’re still paying them.

You have extremely odd perceptions regarding Financial institutions hiring consultancies.

God save all of us. The last two months have been a disaster. Time to quit and take our talents elsewhere. There is no future asa coach or a scrum master/

Only person who shows any reasonability to deal with is the guy with the turban. We had our team meeting last week and the clarity he provided was the first time I got any confidence from this group.

Ever hear her talk? She never says anything substantial.

The agile practice is led by a Katherine. She joined straight out of McKinsey and has zero practical experience.

The scrumaster assignment process is a hot mess in wave 2. Jira usage is fine but the agile delivery practice is now comparing agile metrics across teams - que ppl gaming the system

It’s a complete sh-tshow. The C class ppl obviously don’t want to hear that and pretend this is going great. The board doesn’t give a damn coz the stock is flying high. Meanwhile rv and McKinsey is raking in the moolah along with formulating his exit plan. His next successor will blame the current incumbent for the shitmess with a promise to cleanup. The board ppl will be left holding bag and rightfully so .. for letting this happen. Story of corporate America.

Yep…. It shows the single track minds and knee jerk reaction by Sr. Mgmt. Oh boy, agile to save our lives and do everything!!!! Any educated PM knows that it is one project technique that is used for specialized scenarios. To take a bloviated posture that waterfall, concurrent, iterative, hybrid and other methodologies are all obsolete and passe is ignorant. When the product or goal becomes less important than adhering to JIRA then you can expect failure in the project and higher costs.

Also Scrum master is a responsibility and not a role,as the POD matures,the team can take on the responsibility of a SM..you don’t need a Senior VP to be a SM,boxing everyone in an Agile role is madness,a massive cleanup wave will come in few yrs..

Well said,focus on Agile principles first and process later..the core is the culture and principle,if the foundation is not right the the process is bound to fail,unfortunately we focus too much on the latter..metrics can be fudged,I was shocked when I heard velocity needs to improve without a mention of outcome or quality,this coming from a senior leader is even more astonishing..

Couldn’t have said it bette. If you have half a brain as a I do, you know how to skew the stats and start looking stellar. That’s what we’ve been doing. The quality could go take a hike. Oh not to mention none of this helps “be better for our clients” unless that client is McKinsey and Atlassian

But we are hiring Scrum Master in a big way. Just look at the internal career opportunities

Someone in the firm believes in it. The amount of Jira tickets we create and process is incredible. We re more focused on the stories, epics and scrum processes that we forgot that we have to deliver products and services that are defect free

Our velocity is high (or tending to be high as we know how to cook those numbers) but our deliveries are horrible and full of defects

We may walk away with the most efficient processing model but the lousiest product / service
