Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

When can I be released from my current role

How does realeasability work for those of us who were placed in to new roles once our previous role was done away with? Are we able to move around as soon as an opportunity comes or do we have to meet the 18 month rule

Is there another manager that wants you and is willing to fight for you? If not, wait until you have a good prospect before talking to your manager.

Only your supervisor can release you. Talk to your supe first and get a verbal releasability. Or just apply for another job in the company and let them be surprised and they can either 1) get insulted and not let you leave, or 2) get insulted and let you leave

Never. Unless you’re in Dallas or Atlanta, there are no other jobs to go too.

You’re stuck there until the next layoff. Speaking from experience.

If you're bargained usually it's 18 months or whatever the contract stipulates check with your steward. For management positions there is no 18 month rule. Talk to your boss, escalate over them if necessary, get hr involved if your org is refusing to release you.
