Network budget ran out?

Saw fiber going in all over the place in the spring and early summer. Now the work seems to be abandoned. Did the budget dry up?

We are fibering Pon’s regularly along with turn ups for X-leaf, 7750 SR1, White boxes and 9500’s. Moving from older tech to open roadm and dwdm, also upgrading cards in other equipment. So they are building out the infrastructure to be faster, more efficient and more capacity.

Orders are down that has something to do with it. However, I am seeing cable going in all over the place so I’m thinking they must be upgrading the network at first wait all the areas around here that are being built out or to be built out, are already getting the required infrastructure put in place, so cable can jump on new customers while AT&T will likely not come in until years later.
All the new constructions home run well over 1,000,000+ so these customers will have no problem affording the latest and greatest

It is normal.T only has work for 6 months, last 6 months of the year everybody is running on sustaining budget and doing nothing. Keep up a good work!

Yes, when I was an infrastructure salary-slave PM, our cycle was:

Jan-Apr: big-brain leadership figures out on what to spend it. Like why not do it in Q4? Oh, see below.

May-Oct: try like he-l to get it done

Nov-Dec: give up. Holidays, change freezes, hello? anybody home?

Had to cut the network budget to fund the executive travel budget for their Rally tour to get people excited about RTO.

Save some money. Close some more stores. I have never shopped in a retail store for "internet".

Are you new here? Every year we budget full year build. Every year HQ claws back the second half of the year spend. That way, it looks like they’re saving money, but really they just abandon hundreds of work in progress items that never get completed and they have to be started from scratch next year. But, don’t worry, the AT&T executives get paid either way, they own most of the 3rd party companies we send the do-over work to.
