Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

CIO town hall

Missed the answer about when the results of culture survey will be available. Had to be a very short answer but would still like to know what was said if someone can share please.

Response was NEVER. You will not see the results. T morale us all time low, culture doesn’t exist. Everone is in waiting mode and wondering what’s next. How low can we go?

“I guess because I'm one those surplused last Friday that I didn't get the invite.”
You should have other priorities now.

The answer was that it was a lot more work to compile the data than they planned and they aren't done yet. She also implied that the feedback about the culture wasn't "what we were expecting" and it sounded like the biggest delay is because they are trying to figure out how to address that "feedback". She didn't give any indication of when it would be shared, but they "are working on it." I think the lady's demeanor when she was answering the question was the real answer. It must have been shockingly bad.

Hopefully there will be a replay of the townhall that will allow us to get the exact wording of her answer, and her name.

The most important thing is short term gains. The long term health of the telephone network is not a priority. This is painfully obvious to the technicians. Case in point emergency generator and battery maintenance budgets have been drastically cut. So when the chips are down and you have to be certain those batteries will hold and that generator will start. Well it won’t because it’s too expensive to ensure quality and reliability like we used to. We have the money the fcf is growing because we’re cutting reliability. Everyone needs to know this.

“ it has to be obvious to everyone that they have a set of goals (free cash flow)”

Not to everyone. Looks like exceeding the fiber build target and getting the crazy debt down to the 2.5 level they promised the Street by mid 25 are the 2 targets. Gotta have free cash flow to achieve that.

Just walk down the hallways and look at the glow in other people’s eyes. That’s your answer.

I agree, just human capital, the surveys and commendations are just window dressing. Back to the days of the Lords and the serf, competency, merit, and give a damn, no longer matters.

I personally don’t care what the results said, it has to be obvious to everyone that they have a set of goals (free cash flow) and everything else be damned. Our opinions about how they get there mean ZERO to them period. Face it we’re a number only and a financial liability to them, end of story. Sorry.

The number of employees is growing! But what is the number if employees they don’t know. Pathetic. This is the answer from the top of the leadership.

The townhall was a joke. There was same old stuff. I’m with the company for over 20 years and nothing is changing. They will tell you every time we have to do this and that and nothing is done. They know how to fix problems but execution is zero. Best answer so far is HR on survey result, they simply don’t know. This is how they value us, employees. So arrogant. Waste of tome and money.

You can bet, if the results were GOOD they would have shared them (period).

" The results have been widely shared at higher management levels."

Define "higher"? I can state definitively that they have not been shared with L4 in our org.

They’re not being shared. That should be pretty obvious by now.

“ Not getting anything worthwhile, that survey was not for low level employees. It was for the board and the top folks, it was not our normal survey.”

If you reread the email that requested we fill out the survey (mine dated 2/26/24), it states “Following the survey, results will be shared so that we can create informed plans and take demonstrative actions towards accelerating our culture transformation.” Since they didn’t like the results, agree appears they are burying it but let’s not pretend it’s because it originally wasn’t intended for “low levels”. It is because they can’t handle the truth.

Nothing will ever be published. At best it will be very high level generic feedback but honestly don’t think we’ll ever hear anything
