Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I have noticed exxon enticing the younger workers with more work and responsibilities. Exxon tells them that it will pay off in the end. It might for a few but for most it won't. There are more chances to fail because of the multiple roles and dealing with more toxic employees. If you fly to close to the sun you will get burned. I was told if my performance was high I could be an engineer or MPT whatever the he-l that is. For older workers it does not help because the pay is the same. It is just a different job with more responsibilities and chances to mess up. I asked how much the pay would go up and was told not at all. They may give you a raise but you have to stay at least three years to fully realize the increase. Remember retirement calc highest three years salary average. They can full the young ones but not the older ones. If you have sponsor you can make it no matter what you do. Sponsors will move on every two years and the new boss may have their own favorites to push. I see some of these youngsters sacrificing their home life working extra hours and ki-ling themselves for a dream. This place is just va job and it ends when you go home. I used to work from home when I was younger but one time the manager got pi---d that I did not complete some work. They were so used to me working extra and one weekend when I did not they were pi---d. After this I stopped taking my computer home and enjoyed my time off.
