Ok everyone I need to vent. This week started a complete mess of Medicare Advantage case management department. The caseloads are 700-900 depending on the region. This is not realistic and setting everyone up for failure. And most of all Cigna customers pay the price. I am truly disgusted how they are rolling out the changes. Just terrible! Shame on you Cigna!

If the caseload is 700-900 now, expect it to be 1000-1200 by the time layoffs are over with. For the past 7 years I’ve been here, Cigna’s MO is cutting (or people quitting) and replacing maybe 50% of the positions if at all. Some orgs may have been overstaffed, but most weren’t and are now very understaffed. Everyone in my org is expected to do the work of at least 2 people. We are forced to work 60+ hour weeks, which is a bad idea when our part of IT is so important the company will grind to a halt if we fail. Everyone is burned out and making more mistakes. After years of going “above and beyond” and getting repaid with 1-2% raises despite great reviews, I quiet quit/act my wage. Working 60 hours means my pay is 66% of what it should be, so I work at about 2/3 the speed. Cigna can afford more employees, but Cordani’s next home is more important. I just don’t give a sh!t at work anymore. The system is broken. I am tired of being exploited. These greedy MFs have no shame, and would make you a slave if it was legal.

Did the audit results come in? Every meeting we’ve had they keep saying the audit results didn’t come in yet. The audit was April. This seems odd.
This is specific to the special needs plan (SNP) case managers. Their expectations at this point are impossible to meet. They are shooting themselves in the foot doing this 5 months before the sale when, our audit already failed CMS terribly. This will make our next audit before the sale even worse. I’m sure the case managers will be leaving this chaos very soon. We are professional nurses and they are treating us like children. Shame on you all….. leadership managers and everyone else inbetween. Nobody cares about the member here…. Stop saying you do

Be careful what you wish for. We are working a mix of high, moderate and low cases in addition to all Transitions of Care (inpatient, Observation, ER). If it was just simply following up every so often it would be doable.
How often are you expected to engage with those 700 customers? Once a year? Twice a year? Every month? Once a year would be a sweet deal, that means you only have to do like 2-3 outreaches a day. That's way better than my workload.
The Case Managers in reference here work specifically with Medicare Advantage customers. They play an integral role in reducing hospitalizations thus saving money for the organization allowing the ELT to heavily line their pockets.
Sorry d-mb question. But who are case managers ? Is the customer support on myCigna known as case managers ? If yes, they I didn’t have great experience lately.
Cigna does not care about quality care. Non compliance is a huge issues in the case management world. I would not be surprised if CMS sanctions us and suspends marketing of new plans for 2025.
I hear they are planning to install cigarette machines to help with this.
