Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Gary AMA

The good

Seems a nice guy I would say somewhat
Love emphasis on less internal things and focusing on meeting our customers

The one Cisco message seems good, let's see how it translates too much Meraki EN, sec con umbrella, splunk app d fighting this needs to be sorted out

He is clearly aware about the slump and has a vision if it is the right out remains to be seen

Doesn't seem to care about going back to office which is good as long as you do your job

The bad
IPV6 seems needs to be answered properly and this is not good

Fedramp strategy and certifications....

Nothing mentioned around SPs and MSP this is how Fortinet ki-l us

AI AI AI yes ok but what does this actually mean in practice and as executable metrics

We are all account executives, again what does this mean , it is an evolution of the role, is the money and quota also evolving?

The Ugly
Trash diet
Where is Chuck?

As somone from Splunk, Gary talks a decent talk but all he did at Splunk was hire his buddies into ELT, cut costs, do layoffs, and then sell the company to make his $50m and sc--w all the regular employees.
I don't know Cisco but I can't imagine he's better than whoever you had before

Gary will be eliminating the part timers, two jobbers, sales specialist overlay, etc to reduce headcount by 1/3

Have insiders done a good job
Other than infighting and fancy PowerPoints I am unsure what their actual contribution is

He may be a great person but he's an outsider. He will be responsible for contributing to laying off people hired before Splunk was anything to be noticed. Shame on the ELT for treating the newbies like royalty and the dedicated ones like trash.

Gary is the new GTM guy, and would wield his power to cut and show results. He is sharpening his kn--e. Will he be good or bad for Cisco, only time will tell.

Gary laid off a bunch of people at Splunk after Cisco acquisition was announced. He is devious.

He needs to travel to the various geographies and sit down with the front lines
Not a curated ivory tower in San Francisco
Get real feedback
Understand local dynamics
Australia won't be the same as Austin
And Saudi won't be the same a Salt Lake
